hahaha thats HILARIOUS. three to four times a week? DAMN id LOOOOVE to wakeskate that much. i ride maybe once a month and thats if im lucky AND thats in the summer time. but every time i go out, its like i gotta re-learn my tricks. do you know how frustrating it is to only get the couple variations of shuvs before you gotta get back in? damn. SHUT THE FRONT DOOR. sometimes i swear if i rode that much...

From my perspective, this article goes against most of the things I love about wakeskating. You talk about "how cool this sponsor would be and how to get them." At what point does a rider, male or female, have to look in the mirror and ask "Do I deserve something like this?". I consider this whenever a new deal comes to me and as much as we would all like to say yes, sometimes it doesn't work that way. If you think I'm the wrong person to be saying this, just remember where I was 3 years ago. While I have never set benchmarks for myself in order to get sponsors (it was never very high on the priority list), the level of riding a wakeskater has reached is ABSOLUTELY indicative of where he/ she stands in the ranks of the art. It would be ignorant to say that female athletes don't have the handicap in action sports, but here's where the line of discretion is drawn in my mind: The upper echelons of wakeskating have only begun to reach the level of legitimacy (consistency, diversity of styles, technicality) that is precedent of other boardsports. To suggest that female riders who call each other "pros" be recognized in the same arena, while their riding resembles that of a novice 14 year old boy's, is to be arrogant and detrimental to the art of wakeskating. I am well acquainted with almost every girl that calls herself a pro wakeskater, and while I see plenty of potential, I see more a love of sponsors and recognition than of actual riding. There are exceptions and she knows who she is. Renee, I hope you don't think I mean any disrespect for you as a person by this response, but I hope it can give you a bit of perspective of how myself and maybe other members of the wakeskating community view the subject without all the hating, ignorance, and anonymity. ride hard and have fun `nick taylor
