does anyone on here have dread locks? im getting mine on monday and was wondering if they are hard to take care of and if they are as beautiful as they look! Laughing

you dont go out and get dreads like at the super store
they are grown
hince the creed that the rastafarians take to not let someone cut their hair, and by not washing it with moisturising soap they slowly take form into a dredlock .

if you go out and get yourself some ready dreadys you might as well get a ton of henna tatoos .....make sure they put lots of beads in there..... Rolling Eyes

I have extremely curly hair, and last year my hair started to dreadlock on its own..... pretty cool looking, but picking up a girl at a party with dreads is kinda hard, so i cut it short.

now in order to get to the cool long hair again, I have to go through the jewish fro stage Rolling Eyes

ya i just cut the pony tale off after a year of growth. You should roll your own dreads if you want to be a true rastafari. Im sure your stoked on it, usually people who have dreads dont give an f about their hair. If your worried about what you need to do to maintain them then maybe dreads aren't for you. Plus I hear you dont want to get them wet.

i had dreads for two and half years, just do it, read about them on the web and do em urself, im dredin my boys now and he sucks cause hes not learning how to tighten em up so i have to do it for him but he keeps me lifted lol so i guess its even. but for real, dreads arent dreads for like 6months so be ready to look like butt lol

ya there's a certain way to grow dreads correctly. you don't need to go "get them". it takes close to two years to get some decent dreads. and when you're done you need to shave your head to have regular hair again. if you do it you might as well plan on keeping them for years so i'd really contemplate it.
