I try to ollie, then as the front of the board is coming up, twist backwards. The more you wait after the ollie the better looking it'll be, as long as you don'tslide it out. I would do it gradually, like ollie 20 degrees slide 160, then continue to try and ollie more until you got the full 180.

just practice doing surface back 180s to get the handle pass down, also i found it helped me when i was bored walking around the house or somthing get a tennis ball and pass it behind your back over and over and over to get the real feel of passing somthing blindly . Any way to do a Bs 180 just pop a big old ollie and turn head and shoulders behind you. I found lookin at my front foot the whole time helped me on the landings when i was learning. if ur doing this on your heel side make sure you land on your toes and either pass the handle or land wrapped. after you try a bunch youll start understanding what the concept of doing it feels like and youll start to get it. it took me a while to be able to pop them a significant amount, but once u get the feel for it, it i will come easier. hope that helps. |

Go out into the flats and do a surface 90 so your back is facing the boat or ski. Hold the handle at the small of your back, keep your shoulders and head up, look at the horizon and stay like that for like a minute. Then turn the rest and pass the handle keeping your eye on the horizon. This will help you get the feel of the rotation so you don't slip out on your toes. After you get comfortable doing that, ollie into that 90 position and see if you slip out. Just keep practicing that and you'll be doing them by the end of the day. |
