You cant compare other gernes to emo, even rap has "emotional" stuff in it but it is not gayly song, or sing about girlfriends braking up with me Bu Hu Hu.
Sh*t is gay

brotha whoever you are trying to classify right now, their just people. They will listen to what they want and they will dress how they want they will act how they want and they will speak how they want. Just the same way me and you will. No one is out to get you...hopefully. So I don't understand why you are trying to target something so silly as "emo". Just be you and I'll be me!

Music is a way for people to express themselves, and if you can't accept the different ways it is expressed...then get the fck out. No music is going to "die" either, they are still playing sht on the radio from wayy back.

Oh, and if you weren't so ignorant you would realize that most music, rap, country, hip hop, all that sht, sing mostly about their love lives.

keenanlebron, Name some of these "emo" bands that you despise so much. It will be interesting to see your interpretation of an emo band.
In my eyes (and the eyes of many others) emo isn't really a genre of music. Elements of emo music can be found in many different types of bands. I have seen it as more of a scene or a fashion (usually kids that were involved with the indie scence were kind of given that label). Few bands that are considered emo would actually stake claim to playing "emo music" (there are some).
I saw in an interview or something where Guy Picciotto (the guy who everybody claims started emo) wouldn't even recognize emo as a genre of music. I also heard people say that Ian MacKaye first said the term (or maybe it was fans). Either way there are so many different kinds of music that I have heard called emo by people who actually know a thing or two about music.
I think it's fair to say that just like in any genre (or made up genre) there is both good and bad music.
There are several bands I am currently enjoying that would fit the emo label.
I actually just bought Elliot - U.S. Songs at sound exchange today for my girlfriend. Guess I'm an emo.

I agree, Emo can't really be attached to a specific genre of music. If you gotta hate on Emo, hate on the Emo kids who think they know something about something and don't know dick about dick. Back in High school, 14 years ago or so, (God i'm old), I used to give a crap about this shizzle, but I have since grown up. However it grabs at me now and then when I go to a good show and there are these dumbshits with long black bangs and tight ass pants everywhere talking about the state of punk rock and such, when the bands they are talking about I was watching before they were potty trained.

But here is a list of all the bands i hate

30 Seconds to Mars ( the lead singer is an actor, he was in Fight Club & Lord of Wars, look it up)
My Chemical Romance
Taking Back Sunday
The Used
Good Charlotte
The Killers

keenanlebron, just out of curiousity, what type of music do you listen to and what makes those artists better musicians than the list you just provided? And no, the tightness of one's pants has no effect on the ability to play a guitar.
PS. I love the Killers.

| incredible man...the good music is slowly fading away because of a surge in the popularity emo. All the other real musicians are just too intimidated by the sheer ferocity of their music, right. As long is there is highschool, emotionally driven rock will continue to exist. There are other ways of discovering new music than the radio or mtv. What was the last album you listened to? don't even get me started on pepper. haha
