Why do you wakeskate?

what draws you to wakeskating? why do you do it?

I skateboard first, then started wakeboarding, my friend had a cassette, rode it, loved it. Saw Asterisk 2, fell in love even more. I love seeing my silouehette as I carve into the wake.

i am drawn primarly by the butter, it beckons me. Even when i can't see it, knowing that it's there makes me stir. with it goes hand in hand the scenery, the clean air and the comradery that makes it such a special dance.

the feeling alone and the sense of freedom take me away to the clouds.........cloud 9 usually. i do it as any artist paints a canvas or a quarterback throws a touchdown, i do it to express myself. the water is my canvas, and the board is my brush. i like the feeling of exhaustion so that i may better rest, i like the feeling of accomplishment after a big trick, i like dreaming about tommorrow and what could possibly be in store.

I am more of a I cant believe its not butter man myself!

I just like it because it's more gratifying than almost any other activity I've ever done, with skateboarding being right up there because I've had to work for everything. I used to wakeboard, and I don't regret that and at times miss certain feelings you get from riding, and I owe wakeboarding for me even having an interest in the water in the first place, and also seeing wakeskating when it first appeared in the media. but I like the fact that you can do whatever you want behind whatever kind of towing device you want. Like, even if you're riding behind a boat, you don't HAVE to do wake to wake tricks (with wakeboarding, that was kind of the point), and lip tricks and flats tricks are still just as gratifying as anything you could ever do.

Plus my skateboarding crosses over much more than my snowboarding does...I'm not super consistent, but wakeboarding was like a disaster in that regard, at least when I'd go to a contest and ride behind a "real" boat. At least when I skateboard, i can go to the water and not feel so distant from what i"m doing...I'm not really re-learning anything every time I go out.

Finally, it's a reflection of my lifestyle. My mind, body, bedroom and credit card pretty much reflect this. (museum reference, fools)

its a new challenge, im a huge fan of trying to do things that ive never done before, at least thats how it started, now im just hooked on the laid back chillness of riding, and the fact that every trick doesnt have to be some huge hucked spin that looks crappy, its all stlye
