savagegarrick, atreyu's album is horrible in my opinion! It sounds all soft and not like atreyu. Just not my style i guess. _________________ Some people make birdhouses, some people knit sweaters. I star in high-quality pornographic films. To each his own... |

I dunno I haven't heard the new album yet. And I do agree that each album has been consecutively worse. But hopefully they will harden up again. Oh, And I just picked up that new "AsI Lay Dying" Good shizzle. _________________ http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/ |

Just saw the "As I Lay Dying, All that Remains, Haste the Day and Through the Eyes of the Dead" show in Baltimore last night. Awesome. No tour shirts though. Made me angry. _________________ http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/ |

You bastard west coast MFer's. They need to have that stuff set-up ahead of time so each stop on the tour gets some shirts. You'd think that would be tour policy.
I can buy any shirt at hot topic or online. I look forward to tour shirts at shows. _________________ http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/ |

You gotta be kidding dude. As I lay dying is pretty F'ing metal. And why you gotta bring out stupid immature labels that MTV and corporate america try to stuff down our throats so retards who don't know anything about music can go ask "Best Buy" to help you find that popular"Emo" or whatever album you heard about on the radio or on TRL. _________________ http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/ |

sk8tehwake, AILD is generally classified as "Metalcore", a label that describes a cross between metal and hardcore punk. There is usually a lot of screaming with a small amount of smooth singing, but smooth vocals are not always necessary. The screams range from high-pitched "hardcore" styles to lower, brutal death style and sometimes inhales (pig-squeals) are incorporated.
Guitars are generally detuned heavily and backing riffs are simple and heavy.
Actual "emo" music (short for emotive hardcore, i.e. punk with emotional themes) usually employs the use of smooth vocals more, and when a scream is used, it shouldn't drop below the classic "hardcore" high-pitch.
Guitars are rarely detuned (if they are, it is usually a simple drop-D) and riffs spend more time in major keys.
Now, if you bring up a band like My Chemical Romance, labeled as "emo" by the general public, you will notice that it does not fit the definition given above. Simply because lyrics are oriented towards pain and suffering does not mean the artist is "emo." MCR and Fallout Boy (both labeled as "emo") are good examples of generic pop/rock fit for the radio. |

As I Lay Dying is one of the most EPIC William Faulkner novels ever.
His stream of consciousness is mind blowing. _________________ Your mom is my favorite knee boarder. |
