Hey I was just wondering how come nobody uses wax on a wakeskate instead of griptape or foam....like they do on a surfboard or skimboard. I understand that griptape is whats on skateboards....but it seems wax does best in water. It seems that you could wax a wood or composite board and it would work well. And no im not planning on waxing my board...i was just wondering.

Do you really want wax all over the board sitting in the sun on the boat...getting all over the place??

I would think because in surfing, you barefoot, you need the wax for grip, for wakeskating, the majority of riders wear shoes, why wear shoes with wax? Unless of course you dont want grip, and want to ride barefoot, get foam, or I guess you can put wax on the skate, I think it would feel weird though.

The reason surfers use wax is it predated foam, foam is expensive and paddling on foam gives you rash's.Otherwise wax generally sucks, melts in the sun, gets full of sand, wears off.Griptape or foam are a way better choice for skating.

seven11dmd, you would need to dip the board in the water every 10 minutes to keep it from melting all over the boat.
