yo yo what up crew im representing the shizzel for nizzle, and im about to drop a load on the new scene...if you thought you be representing think agian kiddies, im from the midwest giving call outs via the aka of MWR...I am a MWR (midwest ripper) for life, thug.

Actually im not a member of the MWR or the WSR or that other $hit. What in the F*k is up with all this "representing". Is it some sort of brotherly love type of thing, kind of like what you feel when you join a frat? (never was part of a frat...perhaps i should of been, but my name isn't nik or mik chik a cok-a-doodle-doo) Anyways if someone could just explain to me what the deal is with the whole WESSSSSSSSSSSSST SIIIIIIIIDE RIIIIIDERSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSZZZ. (im not dissing the west coast...i think the west coast is beautiful and home to some narly $h!t.)

In the beginning, I think it was cool that riders were proud of their influences (namely, the west side riders, but more specifically, the riders of the north west). And I'm talking about wakeboarding here. When you look back at what those guys were doing in comparison to the guys from the east (read:florida), a lot of today's riding has gone in the direction that the nw/west side guys were pushing from the beginning. From knowing how to grab and bringing their snowboard influenced riding, to a wakeboard specific clothing company that made baggy shorts that are now the norm (as opposed to the seven inch inseam, painted on volleys), I think that early west side stuff is great. Or neptune going so far as to create a music cd representing the music from their area. Oh, and one other thing that sicks out in my head, style wise, is something from an old josh smith interview. He was comparing the snow style to the florida/waterski style, and how the snowboarders would go up and then grab and then poke, with the grab and poke being at the height of the trick so it would make a nice smooth arch, as opposed to leaving the wake in the position that you're going to (for lack of a better word) assume at the peak of the trick. I thought that was/is awesome.

But now there are riders from all over the country that not only wakeboard/wakeskate, but they skate and snowboard too. So I'm not as hyped on all of that geographical claiming. But I'm personally pretty hyped on the early northwest/west side riders (nelson, smith, mccaffray, and schmaltz).

Errbody in da club gettin' tipsy...

Yeah, but Washington sucks, it hasn't brought anything good to riding, and Peter Line doesn't count because he was a transplant. Wink

Oregon is where it's at. What! Glasses

Ok if we're talking snowboarding then how can you forget about Craig Kelly, and if your talking wakeboarding then you haveGreg Nelson, and now the ennen bros, Bret V, and Brent Star. Never say that washington doesnt have tallent.

electricsnow, you should be my translater. You put words into awesome sentences and when i get done reading im content. Thanks man, chick or whoever you are....

I guess what i was getting at is that some of these new kids think, hey well im from the west side, ill just call my self a west side rider. But the fact of the matter is they are not pushing that west side style and or whatever else it means to be a "west side rider". I guess kids are just taking somesort of satisfaction in the fact they happen to live on the same coast that brought good things to the wake scene. Just because you live in a certain area doesn't give you the right to classify yourself as west side rider....or what ever else you would like to coin your self as. just ride and let the public coin your name....my crew's name is the midwest sucks, we happen to like tight swim trunks....usually we end up free boarding with our spandex mountain bike shorts on...and now that rails are all the rage we just use an old mountain bike helmet. Oh and we listen to wuss core.

Thank you, sir...maybe it's a midwest thing. But your post above wasn't too shabby either.

Also, i'm a "chiquita."

Yeah, I heard that usher song last night, and he mentioned something about getting his shorty back and something about his boo. So then I was like, Hmmmm...

revolutionconcepts, I don't think it's really a secret anymore (except for the people that haven't been on here long). People know, but I've never made it a point to bring it up. It really shouldn't matter, and some people are stupid and use it as an excuse or use it as an insult. But luckily, that hasn't happened often.

SPEAKER BOXX!!

i used to be part of the ol' wakeskating forum thing when wakeskating.com first started, and i just never new...then i was out of the loop...but now im back trying to get back in the loop. I only wish i had witty stuff to say. Everything that sprouts from my finger tips usually offends someone and needs someone like you to interprete the meaning.
