What vest do you wear when on the lake?
CGA?, NCGA?
I was thinking of getting a NCGA vest like the oneill vapor or the baller vest. The only problem is, I ride behiond a jetski. So I am kinda concerned that if i got pulled over the lake cops would notice? Also anyone know what kind of fine you would get? _________________ ::The Endless Summer 05::

| I wouldnt get caught riding on a jetski without the coast gaurd whatever vest. I skate with one and i never thought of it as a pain. if ur on a jet ski, those water police know whats up and they can be real dicks....fines are pretty hefty on the water too, i got fined $250 dollars just for not having my fishing license with me |

i wear a very comfortable oneill CGA that i got several years ago. whats weird is that i find it just as comfortable as some of the new non-cga vests that claim to have larger armholes for more maneuverability...whatever. i guess the vest has stretched/broken in to the shape of my body...
if i had to get a new vest, i'd probably get a cga. no reason not to. i dont find the non-cga vests all THAT more comfy on my body than the newer CGA's (and ive ridden with them, not just tried them on in stores). id rather not pay $$$ to the po-po's for not wearing an approved vest. _________________ facebook.com/TheLiquidPlayground

I ride with a jet pilot molded vest, i love it it floats me just fine, head out of the water and everything, and its so comfortable, I doubt the po po are gonna notice that your vest isn't coast gaurd approved unless you have one of those super thin touney vests or you get pulled over for something else and they decide to check. _________________ ow thats gonna hurt tomorrow |

If your gonna get a CGA vest get an O'neill Mental vest, don't look any further. If you want a non CGA vest try them all out, it's just personal opinion. I would just rather be riding with a legal vest that has good flotation, is comfortable, and is a protective vest. _________________ :DVS:CASSETTE:OAK: |

I usually wear my CGA vest on the lake but the last time i was wearin my friends NCGA vest and we got pulled over by tha... whatever he is i guess some kind of cop or somethin cuz he has the lights on top of his boat... and they checked all the stuff like the fire extenguisher and the throw out thinggy and he checked for the # of lifevests in the boat, but he never checks if they are NCGA or CGA... he hasn't checked them ever.. which is i think 3 times now that hes done that..
i dunno if its just this lake cuz its really not that BIG or if none of the copz check them.. but im guessing the fine would prolly be $50 if not just a warning the first time(s) |

this dude came down from new mexico last year and his lake doesnt make him wear CGA. so we get pulled over and hes gettin ready to ride. so the cop/sherif person ask him if he has a CGA vest on andhe says no. the cop ask why and the guy says "cause on my lake in new mexico we dot need them" all the cop did was make him get a CGA on . didnt say nething elese jus left _________________ Scuba Steve's Wakeskate Film Libray |

Yeah, I live in Wisconsin, and not only have I never been stopped by DNR I am willing to bet that they don't know that Non CGA vests exist. I totally understand the justification behind having a CGA though, I definitely get more of a workout having a molded vest. At least I am not like those fools that skate without a vest on, I will float if I get knocked out so somebody can find me, ha ha. _________________ death before dishonor.

| I've found that most CGA vests are comfortable, don't restrict movement at all, and it's just not worth the risk of getting a ticket or (this is a little bit more extreme) dying. |

ty540, i agree, and i reallllly wouldnt wanna be caught on a jetski (since u said u need one for that too) w/o one, i ride on a seadoo so i need one that i can be legal riding on the seadoo also, when im not skating. I think the fine is more then 50 bucks and its not worth getting the water cops to be paying attention to ya anymore then they need to. _________________ JMU |
