i am new here, and i have searched a bit...
i am rather new to wakeskating, fairly good, tried it two years ago and rode a bit last year, can do some lip tricks involving shoveits, but no wake to wake stuff or anything
i want to focus on lip tricks
I have the chance, through work to get an 07 catalyst for $110 through an employee purchase.
I dont hit rails but i would try if i had the chance; im a good snowboarder and def a parkrat in the snow, love boxes and flatbars
so should i get the hyperlight or something wood?
i like the looks of the devotids and oaks, but should i stay away from hyperlite for my first board, and should i stay away from composite? |

DefenS, what shop do you work at? the catalyst is a huge board man. it is designed with w2w in mind. i would definitely recomend a smaller board. you live pretty close, we should ride. i have a variety of boards you can try: integrity, sattelyte, LF

Word to that. I bet you would like to start with an affordable yet reliable board. I think the Oak has a solid reputation, but I personally would stay away from liquid force. There stuff tends to fall apart rather quickly. As far as hyperlite is concerned, they are cool if you are a strapper. They are bindingless, chopped down wakeboards IMO. However, I have not ridden teh new Byerly Legacy, it looks pretty cool, but I am skeptical. Hell, if you work in a shop or know people who ride DEMO DEMO DEMO. You will be so glad you did. _________________ forever shreddin' |

what kinda of board did you ride when you rode before cause if you just started and doing shuvs and lip tricks you should stick with that board idea |

DefenS, I have to recommend the wood, I've ridden both and being a naturalist.......I'd have to say go with the Oak. Good luck buddy. _________________ dbanana wrote:

DirtyCracker: I was riding an 06 catalyst (112 i think) i really dont know what to compare it to. I have ridden a cassette with no grip! cause the kid's mom made him take it off or some bs.
I liked the wood, so would the phriction 108 be alright?
shorter board, better for tech riding right?
wakemitch: would you happen to have any boards you might sell, i can come by your shop maybe next week if you are working, kick it for a little and ask you some questions. |

DefenS, dont look at a board for tech riding, youll never find the one best for you. do what feels natural, i went on alot of boards in differnt sizes and shapes and after a 18 months ive found my board _________________ Helium - Devotid Wakeskates - Anarchy Eyewear |

If you have the chance of getting an 07 catalyst cheap then you might want to look at the catalyst 2.0
Same shape as the byerly last year, lasts forever on obstacles but does feel different to wood skates. I'm riding one this season and can say that it took a while to get used to but I like it a lot.
110$ ought to be a no-brainer really |

Im gonna get the byerly legacy 42. I can get it for half price.
I rode a composite last year, just fine, i wouldn't know the difference...
just so you all know, the lady i talked to at hyperlite said they have not shipped any of the byerly skates yet so thats why no stores have them, even if they say they do.
on a completely unrelated note; What length line is the best for skating? |
