|
|
one thing ive noticed on the the wake edition seadoo's is the higher pylon. so i got to thinking, they put towers on wakeboats and a higher pylon on the seadoo's for a reason and i wanted to build something that would accomplish the same thing, because i dont neccesarily like the rope being almost water level.
basically what this design is, is a small tower type structure that will sit on the jetski floor right under the grab handle, and attach to the grab handle for stability. the bottom of the tower will not need to be attached because the rope traveling up and over the top of the tower will hold it down, along with the weight it will be holding, this will also allow for easy removal. i got to drawing some ideas today and this is what i came up with.writing is essy and the drawing is sketchy but i think this will give you a pretty good idea. the rope will still hook to the tow hook, but it will be re-routed to go up and over the structure. i also have a baord rack intergrated into the design.
Let me know what you think!!! |

i see where ur going with the concept but it may not be worth it...
ive ridden behind wake editions and although it is nice having the rope off the water alittle, the downfall is in the performance of the ski. when the rider cuts out to either side, they can easily pull the ski off of its straight course. i was pullin j-scott back in the day when he was learnin bs bigs...he would cut out on his heels, then pop the trick... but he wasnt able to land it due to the slack in the rope.
i dunno... this may be a bad example or just personal preference, but to me, the 18" pilon isnt worth it. im currious to see what others have to say _________________ "it is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation." |

| well i havent come up with a set height, thats where im hoping to get some feedback on. i liked having the rope higher because it seems easier to get up and could possibly help porduce a cleaner/bigger wake. who knows.i know what you mean by when the jetski slides of coarse because mine does it all the time too, but it isnt extrmely bad, do you think a pylon would make it worse? keep the comments coming everything helps. |

if you put a board in that rack it would catch the "roop" real bad....by the way has anyone seen the towers you can get for pwc's.... i know you could get them a few years ago for sure _________________ F.T.D.S |

hmm, ok well that idea is gone
i still want to do the board rack thing. we usually have like 2 skates and a wakeboard on my ski for my lil bro who cant skate. be nice ot put them on something. im in a welding class adn i need to build something, and a rack seems like a perfect idea. do you think it would get in teh way of the rope? looks like i may be able to clear it on both sides |

I dont do much jetski riding at all, but i was wondering why dont ski's have a scag(sp) like fin coming out of the bottom that you can adjust to help with tracking (going straight)? I understand that you want to beach the thing all the time but you could make it swing up and away like a sail boat. couldn't you?
Towers on jet skis do seem to affect the steering too much though especially with a heavier or better rider. Maybe try to think of a way to get the ski to be more stable when pulling someone. maybe a way to mount a fin or something on the side that flips down into the water that makes the wake bigger or different shaped. I dunno just ramblin again
I like the drawings though. reminds me of when i would sit in school a ways back and draw up complete dream skateparks on my schoolw work ..... aaaahhhhhh....the good ol' days........ _________________ Never, never, never, never give up

devotid, i brought tracking fins up to my dad and he explained to me that he doesnt think it would be able to turn. because jetskis use a single jet to turn and the thrust, it wouldnt be able to turn.
in my opinion i still think it would be able to turn just not be able to sling it around and spin it. but it would be perfect for wakeskating. if it makes sense to more than just me(maybe someone with more boat knowledge) then i might talk to a fiberglasser around here and see what we can come up with. it is a great idea though. |
