Alright Guys
My letter Got posted in Alliance wakeboarding magazine. I was totally stocked to hear that. Can anybody tell me some details. Did i win anyhting? or what did the editors say. Im gonna post my article again for the people who couldnt read it.
But some info would be most appriated
Wakestock World Cup with Danny Hampson
It is 3 days before Wakestock World Cup. So many ideas are running through my head. What should I do? How should start my run? What have I gotten my self into? I went to Wakestock world cup not knowing it would be the best 3 days of my life.
It’s Thursday morning and my blood is running faster than a nerd to a star wars convention. While looking out my window I still realize its dark outside and we have to drive down to Toronto to catch the ferry over Toronto Island. After Registration we head over to the best wakeboarding event in the world. After 4 hours of non-stop fun, its game time. Time to show off my wakeskating skillz. I come up of my first pass and totally kill it, Landing wake-to-wake grabs and shuv-its. Second pass come around and I throw in a wake-to-wake 180, shuv onto the lip and 270 shuv out. I was happy with my run.
After anther 2 hours, it was time to check the standings. I placed 4th! Not bad at all. That was the first thing that put a smile on my face, but not realizing what was just about to happen. Its 5:00 and for some reason I was hanging around the Oakley booth looking at the Launch Pool. When all of a sudden the greatest wakeskater of all time shows up; Danny Hampson. Now Danny wasn’t in the greatest condition because of his accident back in May, but I still knew it was him. I was so pumped, Danny Hampson the ripper of all time right beside me. So, I slipped my way towards him and started up a conversation. I begin by telling him how big of an inspiration he was to me, and he was moved by my words. He looked at me and said, “Dude, wanna come and hang out with me on top of the Oakley launch pool”. Without even thinking about it the words “Of course man” came out.
So Danny takes me past all the guards and brings me up to the Oakley launch pool; the biggest and craziest rail system of all time. Once my eyes saw all the people up there I went into awe. Riders like George Daniels, Melissa Marquette, Clint Tompkins, Kyle Walton, and my Buddy Aaron Rathy were all there. I couldn’t believe what was happening. All of us we talking, eating pizza and drinking red bull together. Those riders have the sweetest life.
Saturday Rolls around and I become a closer friend to Danny each time we meet. Danny has got to be one of the coolest and most laid back guys I have ever met. Who else would take some local armature wakeskater and give him the best 3 days of his life. What he did for me was way beyond anything I could ask. I even met the provincial rep for Oakley through Danny. Hopefully a sponsorship will come my way next year.
Anyways it’s amazing to see what little effort a pro can do to make the world of a local rider. Most riders have better things to do but Danny took me under his wing and gave me the best weekend of my life. I actually felt like a pro. By the way, make sure Wakestock is on your calendar for 2007 because you never know what could happen.
So next time you see a pro wakeboarder or wakeskater, talk to them and hopefully something like this could happen to you!

that sounded like a blast. If I had the magazine, i'd scan your letter. But since I'm on the shizzle list (it's a joke, but I feel like I'm always the last to get it) I'd say it will be awhile... _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

I got dead last. My run went like this: get-up, adjust shorts, bail, get-up, adjust shorts, bail, get-up, adjust shorts, bail.
That is consistencey.......
Halleluja Hollah back!!!

Kevin Sansalone is the nicest guy in Canadian Snowboarding. When I was a young tike. I made the finals with the Italian Stallon at the Board Room Contest at Seymore. He was a big name rock star, and I was a bright-eyed no-name from Ontario. He came over and introduced himself. I damn near bent over and gave him a BJ on the spot....hahaha (no that's ghey).
Jorli Ricker beat both of us with his massive McTwits off the Q-Pipe. I almost walked home with a nice Cheque that day...but didn't. I was just stoaked to make the finals with solid riders and hold my own. We had beers after the comp, and Jorli invited me out to film with him. I drank that night like a Russian Diplomate...... It was a good day. the end. _________________ Life's Kredo = "When the snake falls in love with the spagetti it's time to buy a new hat." & "I guess I need to whiskey up these corn flakes..and heroin up this Orange Juice." |
