Looking to get into paintball with a couple friends, just something to do in the off season...

Just wondering if anyone else here on this forum paintballs' and could maybe give me some advice on what kind of gun/equipment I should buy. I'm looking at buying a CO2 powered gun, and just want to know what brands/models are good and what kind I should get as a beginner. I apprectiate any advice or comments. Very Happy

Me and my bros paintball all the time. For a beginner I'd recomend a Tippman model..........98 custom (~100-150 Jr. Bacons) or the A-5 (~250 frosties)------ both perform well all the time and they require very little maintainance. Spyders are also a sure bet. Make sure you have at least two CO2 tanks, you don't want to run out in the middle of all the fun.

Cheaper models are available, but I b]highly[/b recomend the A-5.

Yeah, I was doing some Googling and came across a couple Omen reviews, said they were pretty good.

i just F'in wrote a whole essay on what you should do and the stupid forum made me login after i wrote it all so i lost it Evil or Very Mad . so basically to sum up what i would have told you is go with either a tippmann or spyder, both will last you a long time. also tell me how much your willing to spend. i use to play paintball religiously so i know quite a bit, not so much now since i took up snowboarding but i still go everyonce in awhile Wink

Just get an electric piranha or spyder, and a revvy hopper. This will get you into the game for pretty cheap. Then just up your barrel sooner or later. This can get you in for <200 with everything included
Mask, Barrel, hopper, and CO2

ok mid range gun for that price id probably go electric spyder, co2 on electric though is a no no, co2 is bad overall. compressed air is waaaay better but waaaay more expensive. dont worry though because you can still run co2 on an electric gun by purchasing an "anti-siphon tube" which would be placed in ure co2 bottle. co2 isnt gonna help your guns accuracy like Hpa(compressed air) will but its decent i guess.

upgrading your barrel isnt going to give you accuracy like you think, i know it has to do with how the barrels made and its just overall better for your gun. there are some stock barrels out there that are just crap (like spyder barrels) and thats why you would upgrade to a better one.

on another note i hate to burst your bubble but there really isnt any sniping in paintball, infact its so hard to snipe people its rediculous, your paint will be flying all over the place from long ranges. the most accurate semi auto guns (affordable type) are autocockers

If your going to be playing more woodsball then speedball then i stand by the tippmann marker, you can drop that thing down a 20 story building and it wouldnt break (not literally but just given you an idea of its strengh). but if you ever find yourself playing in fields that are small and everyones close together get yourself and electric gun and wipeout the entire field Smash Very Happy

I don't really know the prices of guns...but probably nothing over $200 CDN for one...I'm lookin for a mid level gun, one thats not like beginner crappy, but not something thats top of the line and gonna cost me an arm and a leg. Just something thats really accurate and has a decent rate of fire.

I've heard that CO2 is the best way to go, so I'm gonna stick with that.

And whats this I hear about upgrading your barrel? What exactly does it do? How much does it cost?

BTW: I guess I'd be looking for a gun that favors accuracy over rate of fire because I'd probably wanna be more of a sniper/strategic shooter rather than just running around and shooting. Also, my friends and I have decided that we'd mostly be paintballing outdoors (forests etc) rather than indoors (arenas etc)...just to give you guys and idea of the conditions I'll be in.

dude i love paintball... my team actually went to world cup last year... by careful though... it gets real addicting and real expensive real fast... my last gun before i just couldnt afford it anymore was a 1200 dollar top o the line eclipse impulse tricked out... i was shooting 17 shots a sec and like over a case a day... i would definately start off with a tippman cause they last forever and their easy on the wallet... but u'll prolly end up upgrading cause its really slow... spiders are cool but electronic guns tend to mess up... have fun
