I have a newer 5hp Briggs and Straton go-kart motor laying around and was wondering if its powerful enough to use on a winch? _________________

yes it is, you will just have to gear it right so it will work. You might want to put a cvt on it to give it more power. _________________ ~ www.integrity-wake.com ~ www.iwinchglobal.com ~ |

5 hp will work... you just have to gear it right... many people use 5 and 5.5 engines... in sfumato they used a 3.5 hp i believe... _________________ Nothin better than Wakeskating and Motocross!

it will work but you'll probably find yourself wanting more power. If you weight ~150 lbs and have the right gearing it will work though. I'd only use it if you're on a tight budget. _________________ integrity-wake.com | chriscut.com |

I weigh 155~160, not on a tight buget, but the motor is just lying around and I will just buy a different motor for the frame if needs be.
Do torque contervers help that much? _________________

yes... they allow you to gear your winch for speed so you can have the necessary top speed to hit big gaps and such and yet with the cvt you have the torque to pull people deep water.... _________________ Nothin better than Wakeskating and Motocross!

i would get a torq-a-verter and try the 5hp and if it works then your good to go, if not you can always upgrade, since that is a free 5hp engine. _________________ ~ www.integrity-wake.com ~ www.iwinchglobal.com ~ |

if anyone is still looking at this 5 hp is not really enough, eventually you'll want to deep water start and even with a TAV you'll be hard pressed _________________ ☆PHOENIX WINCH☆
