Im not try to be exclusive, I just see whats peoples prefereence. I used to be finless and just latley be skating fins. ITs nice, 3 shuvs are harder but more satisfying. _________________ "Love the Life you live and Live the life you love" |

Ok well, what really ticks me off is when people say you have to use fins to be legit. or that you dont pop your shizzle if you dont ride fins. Here's a quote directly from the Oct/Nov Issue of Alliance
Come on wakeskaters, it doesnt't take a whole lot of skill to skimboard. With the recnet explosion of wakeskating, the only way to earn respect and recognition is to throw some fins on your deck and "POP YOUR shizzle". Kudos to those who ride fins.
This is one of hte most ignorant things I have read in Alliance. So since you have little fins on your board your legit. So since you have to pop your board a whole 3/4" inch your legit. Well I can tell you that i pop a whole lot higher than that with no fins. So chickity china the chinese chicken whoever says if you don't ride w/ fins then you dont pop your shizzle. I dont ride fins because I have always rode w/ out them and I pop my shizzle. _________________ -Jordan Schwaller

i believe someones signature on here (not too sure who's) says:
"Fins are a skid mark on the underpants of wakeskating"
i believe that just about says it all |

I rode fins on my Karma, but on a shorter deck I prefer finless. The Karma was primarily used for w2w stuff, and the fins were nice to have a bit of bite on landings, but my lip tricks went to hell (maybe partially the rails on that board). I sucked at popping them and the fins would hang real bad. |

I agree I don't think 3/4 inch fins are goin to help you POP any more than without. I have not had any problem yet and I never ride fins. I think it is just another topic of pure personal preference. _________________ RIDE FOR THE LOVE OF THE SPORT

I don't think fins should have any link to a rider's skill or to the extent that they pop their tricks. Whether or not you ride fins should be determined by the need. If the board tracks better with fins, use them, and if there is no need, don't use them. _________________ www.devotid.com |

i rode my oak with fins at first and i liked it, took them off and it was fun because i could slide around more, but i couldnt turn as good and when i ollied it felt very unstable and it just didnt like it. i put my fins back on after riding fineless for a while and it felt so much better. i could butterslide easier because i was used to it without fins and i could ollie better because it just felt more stable to me, i could also edge alot harder. so in a way i like it with fins more, plus it makes me pop my board higher when doing tricks because i think im going to catch, so i think its all personal preference but then again i also think it matters what board you ride. personally all the pro's and really good people ive seen ride and talk to say ride with fins because youll progress faster and youll progress the right way. whos knows, but for all i care i ride with fins now, just my personal preference. |
