stompin9s, my opinion, there's nothing wrong with a company like nike expanding and trying to make money in wakeskating, that's completely normal. but to me personally, if i have a choice, i'd rather buy shoes from a company made specifically for and passionate about skating or other board sports. i'd feel like i was betraying them if i bought from anyone else that is kind of intruding in on their market. i don't hold it against people that wear nike stuff, but to me, that's how i feel. peace

nike has been making sb's for years.. how is that not a boardsport?

ahhh, it took nike something like three tries to actually "make" it into skateboarding, and finally gain acceptance from skateboarders at large. The reaction to nike in skateboarding was much different 10 years ago.

Hippodrome = Free Nike's for eveyone in the bus with Funky.

If you weren't on the bus, the shoes were the least of the things you missed out on. Keaton, David crazy stuff, I think half of Oregon saw my ass that day or got free liquid charge. Cool

electricsnow, personally i think the nikes look good. But I just wouldnt feel right wearing a pair. Maybe its because I started skateboarding back in 94 when skaters were anti-everything corporate. Its much different now... there are a lot of pros out there today.. and they gotta eat so when someone like nike says wear our shoes and we will pay you.. i doubt many of them refuse.

For me, Id rather support a company like DVS who have been catering(sp?) to skateboarders for a much longer time. They are more focused to the sports I am into. And could probably care less about basketball and running shoes. I'm sure there are people out there who will only wear vans for the rest of their life.. vans has been around forever.

But who knows... maybe some huge corp owns DVS now... and probably even shares board members who are on both nike and whichever large corp that owns DVS' board of directors as well.

NaRC-P rider, nike basically has two skateboard lines as far as I can tell. The sb line and the 6.0 line.

sb shoes have been around for a few years. most of them are modified versions of the dunks and other classic nikes. they are suppose to be only available in skate shops. and they pretty much are. except for ebay and maybe one online retailer.

I think 6.0 is newer and more geared towards the younger kids (i think). The shoes are slightly cheaper than the sb line and are more readily available.

Atleast this is how I see it all.

If I am wrong some one correct me, cause I too am curious as to why they have the 6.0s and the sbs.

NaRC-P rider, I am guessing you werent really asking about all that, but whatever. I typed it, so you got it.
