which is better. I have wakeboarded for years and wakeskated a couple times. I want to get a new wakeskate but don't know what kind of top to get. |

I like grip for traction, but at the same time foam is alot more forgiving when you fall on it. _________________ Grip it and Rip it! |

I used to like foam, but I find grip to be better, yes, it is less forgiving, but you have a much better grip on the board. Like everyone will say though, its all personal preference. |

hyperlites foam is the best in my opinion but i still think grip tape is probably better, or even that glue grit stuff kampus i think does. _________________ oh great now i have ink all over the screen |

I've tried foam but ride grip. I didn't like the foam stuff, it was kinda hard to move your feet around and it didn't have enough grip. but its up to you. _________________ ow thats gonna hurt tomorrow |

wakeriderof87, if it doesn't grip as well why would it be hard to move your feet around. |

that is a good question. Because in my experience if something was hard to move your feet around on, It had good grip, and your feet stay on the board better. Then if your feet are super easy to move around then theres less grip. So you might want to rethink your logic just a bit. But oh well maybe it was just a typo.
Has anyone in here hit their head really bad on a grip board. I think its in snap, where i think its jim leatherman, but im not sure, but anyway he smashes the back of his head on it and it looks like one of the most painful things ever. _________________ Grip it and Rip it! |

Well it seemed like it to me anyway. It was a hyperlite, and how do i explain this. On a grip if you just kinda take the weight off your foot, it slides easier, it didn't seem this way on grip. Maybe it was just me. _________________ ow thats gonna hurt tomorrow |

I think i can explain this....On a foam board small movements of your feet seem to be a bit more difficult then grip. This is when the foam makes that squeaky sound and is really sticky. But when you make a larger movement, say with an ollie, the foam seems to release the sticky feeling and just feel slippery. When you do the same thing on a grip skate the grip is best when sliding your foot for a trick, almost like it increases the more you move your foot . It is kind of hard to explain and something you can't really understand unless you ride both. I hope that makes sense _________________ Back Again For The First Time

Phibius, wakeriderof87,
Your explanations are so right!
I've experienced foam only once but that's exactly what I felt...
