|
|
I'd like to do one or the other. A releasing spool seems pretty straight forward but a releasing sprocket may be even easier and would be a better set up for my winch. Anyone had any luck with setting up a good releasing sprocket? Is there any other price friendly options to make walking/swimming the rope back out a little easier?
Its only really necessary for beach winching when i'm walking 700ft of rope out every pull. |

to make a releasing sprocket work, you would need the hub adapter w/ pin that exists on the side of a releasing spool on a sprocket instead... does anyone even make such a thing? I know through release winchin, you could buy the hub adapter w/ pin.... but there are 6 bolts that attach it to the spool and i donno if they will align.
imp i'm with burn, just drop the $200 for a releasing spool and save yourself time & a headache. _________________ ~ www.integrity-wake.com ~ www.iwinchglobal.com ~ |

Either way I would build. Anyone sell the hub adapter your talking about any more?
Couldn't i just drill the hole pattern on the sprocket too mount it? I was leaning towards releasing spool before but I'm not so sure any more... |

spool would be a lot easier and would serve the same purpose. I went with the releasable spool and I couldn't be happier with it. |

I've had a little ratcheting sprocket (like a bike) with an 1 1/4" threaded hub sitting in my tool box for ages. I keep meaning to buy a bigger axle and pillow blocks for it and try it out. Only problem is that its only a 32 tooth so it'll have to go on the electric winch. _________________

the hub is not connected to the spool at all.
just drilled a hole all the way through the hub and axle then slip a bolt through when pulling and take it out when running out the line. works great.

I turned mine from a non-releasable to releasable for free. just took the time to drill the hole, then popped in a spare bolt I had.
used to be a pain to pull out the rope and would wear you out. now I can pull it with my pinkie. |

daniel, good call. What prevents the bolt from comming loose tho? I'd through a coder pin or something on there. |
