I will find out this weekend if they are hard to grip. Being that I am new to wakeskating and building anything of the sort I will probably have a lot of things I should have done a little different. But that is part of the fun of making my own. Lessons learned. As far as the shape goes...I have changed it a little since the pics. I took everyones advise and rounded the corners a little. Probably not as much as I should have due to the fact that I could not cut to much of because of the built up ends that were already done. As far as the "bow" in the sides I just bent a piece of 1/16 steel stock until I liked the look. Not much science to it really. Just what felt right to me.

It took me about 2 weeks just to figure out how I was going to go about it. At first I steamed some plywood and try to give it a rocker. It works great until the wood dries and warps on you. I really tried to come up with all of my own ways to do everything. That was an adventure. We finally I realized the laminating was the only way to go. And then hunting down 1/8 hard wood was another adventure. I ended up finding a specialty lumber supplier in Houston that carried 1/8 russian birch. He advised me to use liquid nails to laminated them together. wrong again. I ruined the first board with lquid nails but I think I was just in to much of a hurry. Then I decided to use Gorrila glue and wow. That id some bad stuff. I definatley suggest it. So I guess to answer your qeustion by the time I had figured everything out and got all the supplies it really only took me a couple of days. I put the board together in about 5 hours and the reast of the time was sanding. Lots and lots of sanding. To save you time and money though feel free to PM me with any qeustions and I will give you my lessons learned. Good luck.

I should be able to post some of the completed pics tonight. I am not real happy with how the graphics are coming out though. I could BS my way through the wood work but art is another story. I am keeping it as basic as possible. But its the imperfections that make it mine. I really appreciate everyones comments on it. It has gotten me super stoked. I can't wait to put it to use.

Well if it were not for all the experimenting, which probably cost me around $100, I would say around $50 give or take a buck or two. Things to make the shape are easy. Something to set under each end and something heavy to weight the middle down with.
1/8 Russian Birch $20
Gorrila Glue $12
Wood Epoxy $10
Wood Stain $4
Spar Urathane $6
The ability to say you made your own ride....priceless

Man that's dope. I dig the graphics. What did you use to put the graphics on with? Oh and nice job rounding that board out. That's for sure one of the nicest homemade skates i've seen. In fact, it doesn't even look homemade, looks factory. Great work. Makes me want to try it.

I already put the clear grip on it and it worked out well. You can see the wood and paint real well. The graphics are all stenciled on. I just looked at a picture I found on the web and drew them on poster board and cut them out. It was easier than I thought it would be. I just used spray paint and then put a few more layers of spar eurathane on. I got to ride it a little this weekend. I rides awsome. I can't wait to get better on it.
