Does anyone know if a sit on top John Deere Lawn mower engine would work for a winch? the lawn mower is sitting in my garrage and is free. so I was hoping to use it for a noble cause. Smile

it wouldnt work in a traditional setup, I guess you could use a cog on the jackshaft and gear drive the Tav, or a horizontal spool

i think we might use and angled shaft, and then put the spool to the right or left of the engine. Then the spool could be verticle.

I was also wondering if anyone has ever seen a horizontal spool. I might be missing something but I dont understand why you should have your spool verticle.
