SCBrips was right in his assumption, I do think it's a little classless to ask who a rider would never ride for, however I think he also makes a quality point in the fact they do feature rides from 484 in the same issue which is cool. Overall I thought the inaugural issue was everything it should be, underground, touching on sides of the sport people care about, I'll definitely be reading anything else Subvert puts out. I just don't think it's wise to isolate potential sponsers, in the end money and support will allow their voice to reach more people. This said I guess it was really their opinion but the riders, they really just posed a question. |

We appreciate all the love. Josh's article rips and that's why it's in there. We understand that it's a bit odd to ask people "What sponsor they'd never ride for." But, we thought that with as many kids riding with only sponsorship in mind, it would be a good idea to try and open their eyes a bit with the opposite question being posed. With that being said, David and Patrick are deffinatly not riding just for sponsorship, these guys accually love the sport.
We are also glad that people saw both sides of the story. We wanted to let everyone express their opinions, whether it was an article or repressenting their board. We think that we can be fair and still let everyone state what their thoughts are. Our goal here is to not skirt issues and create a magazine that is just fluff, but rather say exactly what the riders are thinking and give every side an opportunity to speak, or at least be represented. To continue this vibe, I am working on getting the owners of 484 and possibly Liquid Force to have an interview with us where we see their reactions to questions like "A lot of the riders out there refuse to buy your boards. What would you say to them?" I think if they agree to this, I'd be willing to listen and see what they had to say, but if they declined, I think that would say even more. I don't plan to attack these people, but rather give them a safe environment to say what they think. I know they feel that they are creating a good thing, I want them to tell me why. We hope to have this ready for next issue.
