cassette941, i heard they dont make the blackbox anymore.
because the designer left and started a new compant because hypoxic stole his design.
and dident give him credit or somthing.

all i have to tell u is the pulldozer, black box, rewind and i think im forgetting one all use centrifical clutches. these are fine if ur sliding into the water running onto your board, and anything were the board doesnt go under the surface cause they dont do full deep water starts.
i think pirate winches and grinches are the only ones that will and maybe the never ride one too.

about blackbox and pulol dozer, i remember the guy said hypoxic wanted to start building their own and so he started pull dozer and its the same set up as black box.

where did you get this information? because its VERY wrong. have you ridden with each of these three winches? because if you havent then please close your damn mouth. deep water starts are done all the time...

and yes, pulldozers are sick. the owner did build the hypoxic winches and is the most knowledgable person ive spoken to about winches aside from the people involved with the Rewind.

wakeupfilms' 5.5hp b&s rewind can also do deep water starts with a centrifugal clutch.

cassette941, find people who have rode behind each one of the winches and ask them how they like it. I don't think there are too many people who've rode behind more than one brand of winch. I've rode behind a couple different rewinds, and yup, they kick ass.

the grinch and pulldozer winches look cool for sure.

I wouldn't buy a winch before I tried it out either. See if you can find people to ride with who have them first if you can. That's probably the best way to find out which winch is best for you.

touchy subject here. i have a grinch, and i couldn't improve ANYTHING on it if i wanted. the torque convertor setup can't be beat. the frames are the sturdiest around, and sit flat on the ground with no tetering. you don't even have to stake it. the hand brake and rope rollers are a unique feature, as well as the t.c.. i think all the winches in the future will have torque convertors.
i've heard riders say they can get up on centrifugal clutches, and actually, you can see chris b. do it on his rewind. i couldn't deepwater with my c.c. setup, but i didn't tweek my throttle body then either.
hypoxic is supposively coming out with a new winch. that should be interesting.

mario c., haha, i wish i had a winch, the rewind belongs to another Chris however, Chris Ollieshuvitz (Chris41 on here).

I'm really interesting in seeing how a torque converter rides on a winch!

Any winch (using an engine such as a briggs & stratton) can use a torque converter. It's more of an option, then a feature. The torque converter basically nullifies the gear ratio, and gives you a smoother start up to boot. They run around $150-$200, verses the $40-$60 clutch.

headhuntermx4, there are too many people that have deepwater started behind all three (ReWind, Pulldozer, and BlackBox) winches for you to deny it, especially to push a Grinch. Perhaps present your opinion as an opinion, and not as a fact.

mario c., that is my ReWind Jr, which is a prototype. Yeah we both rode at Lake Venezia, but I was teaching him to drive the winch, thus footage/pics of him not of me. Plus, we got busted on my one and only pull in. haha

o i guess the secrets out. i just got my comet last night and am installing it as we speak. that vid with kyle walton on the beach and also pierfest used a torque converter on the new grinch. i think its mostly top speed that it improves because lots off ppl have deep water started with a reg clutch and sprocket config. for those of u just tuning in heres a low down on the "lil black box" . this system is also used on snowmobiles and other small engine applications.

Comets Torq-a-verter automatic clutch kit, is the easiest way to dramatically improve the performance of your centrifugal clutch driven mini bike or go kart! (winch)This amazing system will automatically give you a low range for climbing hills and quicker acceleration, and it will give you overdrive for more top speed. It's like adding more horsepower without changing the engine. The Torq-a-verter will bolt right on to most Briggs 3-5 HP and Techumseh 3-8 HP horizontal shaft engines. Bolts right on in most applications, some applications will require notching the supplied bracket for clearance, or other modifications for chain alignment. Order your Torq-a-verter kit according to the size of your crankshaft and chain size. The Torq-a-verter kit includes the drive and driven clutches, the jackshaft and sprocket, the belt, the cover and mounting bracket and even the bolt for the crankshaft.
Just bolt it on and go!
