So I am currently riding a mutiny 37.9 and am thinking about moving up in size. So I am looking at the 39 Tao as it seems like a solid board and a buddy rocks the 2014 version. Overall behind the boat and flats tricks I like it. My issue is with the grind base.

Yesterday I went to OWC and took the last 3 pulls of the night on the Tao. I hit three different rails (that I was hitting all evening with my board fine) and they a felt super sticky. I actually fell off the kicker BC I stuck so much on the ramp. It was like I was hitting the rails with grip tape on the bottom of the board.

So my question to you guys, do you know if the grind base is the same from the 2014 to the 2015 Tao's?

As far as I know, the only thing that changed was the graphic between those years. I've spend a number of laps at the local cables riding a few different Taos and have yet to have any issues with sliding unless the feature was dry.

I know that all three were not dry when I hit them. I might try to take a whole set on his board and see how it goes. Thanks for letting me know about the base though.

dscsk8er55, the base doesn't feel as slick as some other composite bases like Remotes or Integs. But I did tell a difference between wet and dry rails/boxes on the Tao at Odub and Cajun X so I see where you're comin from. Just make sure you spray whatever you wanna hit and it should slide fine.

the tao construction and grind base has been the same for years, just different graphics. for me the tao slides better than almost every other wakeskate i've rode (an integ sliding faster, and remote slower). i do have a habit that my first two laps i ride regular then switch, while spraying everything down before i hit them, unless i see someone else spray
