Ive decided to start selling boards in 2014, right now, im just working some small things out like finding some local aussie riders that ride at their local cable most days to send my boards out to, Im currently getting a website made up and im getting stickers made aswell.
I've started to think about making my own boards out of paulownia, but realized its not a great idea, I really like the board i have got now, but just not sure if i want to go the way of getting them manufactured overseas, but i plan to eventually bring out a new line of boards that i hand make myself.
I just thought i would keep you posted just incase you thought i quit

I feel that way too. But if he's for real:
If you're trying to make this a business, you're not going anywhere if you keep second-guessing and changing your mind. Don't ask, just do and work yourself in to the ground to do the best you can. The skate you had found looked great and unless you already have some kind of unique/better construction technique that improves on existing skate designs then there is no sense in starting to do them yourself now.
If you REALLY want to build them:
Do some more research on other people's home-made skates and how it's done, then come back with questions. You're way off and your idea will end in a very weak skate that will break.
Paulownia probably isn't going to be great for a skate either, look at maple instead. I've only just started to learn about it all myself but Paulownia seems to be more known for flex and isn't great at keeping its shape. You'll end up with a squishy skate that has a good chance of losing its rocker over time.
I'm actually just starting research myself on building my own deck if you want to talk about it at all. It's always been a goal and I got me some new tools I want to use. Just have to get my damn garage cleaned out first... |
