Cori on here has one his second actually and i ride behind it alot when im not on my rig,u can find them for a decent price and without to much money have a sick rig,I love the wake behind them the io takes a bit to get used too,but such a consistent wake and ride without spending a fortune on a new boat plus IMO I think they were prob built better back then.

those probably have wooden stringers, make sure they are solid or you can talk them down a bit if they need to be replaced.

That was my 80 I bought off Walaka. I loved it but got tired of dumping money into it to keep it working.

DO IT!!!!
The sense of owning a boat, especially an older model is something priceless and spiritual. Our entire industry shifted to these huge 23 foot plus, 100 plus inch beams the last 5-10 years and the boat driving experience was taken away. Its great to hear the old carbed v8s fire up in the am, jump onto plane effortlessly, turn on an absolute dime, park in any stall, and feel one with the water. The older boats are a pleasure to teach behind as well cause you can still hold the skate and talk to your rider from the driver seat unlike the huge cockpits of the modern boats. Yes, they do have quirks and carb adjustments here and there but that makes it all the better when she sings on that sundown butter pass.
After doing my demo's for the shops on newer Nauty's, MB'S, MC'S...it is always refreshing to get back up to the lake and fire up my uncles 1979 Supreme for the reason I stated above. I look on CL everyday for the perfect 78 Nautique or Stars and Stripes MC to restore Wink Good luck!

^^^^Completely agree!

I bought an '84 Ski Nautique last June and had the best summer of my life (and I'm 28 )!

Tons of fun and exponentially more affordable than a new boat. It's a great boat for both wakeskating and wakeboarding, IMO.

80s Nautique + Skylon + Fat Sacs + no monthly payment = bliss.

i did wakeboard behind it a little. had a 550lb ballast bags but ever since i started landing 3 shuvs(whatttt) last summer i think this year i'll be skating only.

plus i'm old a fug and it hurts. if any one around the ark-la-tex wants a pull, hit the mf'ing horn. also have a wake edition ready for the river days!

Nautiques made from 1982 - 1989 have the "2001" model hull which is killer....especially for wakeskating with no ballast. The hull was designed for trick skiing and meant to produce a decent wake at lower speeds i.e.. 21 mph. if you can find an early 80's at a decent price u can't go wrong.

2001's are the shizzle! I've got a 74 ski nautique and a 76 skitique if you wanna come down and try em out.

Just make sure the stringers are solid... otherwise your in for a major over haul to glass an seal them.

The narrow hulls help the boat sit deeper in the water with less weight and creates a steep an clean transition... squared off lip and perfect for wakeskating in my opinion...

Here is my 83' nauti with a chop top tower... an a shot of the wake on a seriously windy day with 2 people in the boat.

i'd recommend getting something in the 80's to early 90's if you want to spend more time on the water an less money... go older an you've be a repair man and locked into a money sink.

Schmaltz, one of the most beautiful boats i've ever seen. Smash one day I would really like to get an old natique, I've ridden behind a friends and the wake really is perfect.

You can definitely surf behind an '82-'89 (2001 model) Ski Nautique.

My friend Robert surfing my '84...
