i got the email from volcom this morning that it was still up for grabs

Last Friday, March 4th, 2011, Zoltan Torkos from Santa Cruz, CA technically pulled the first documented kickflip on a surfboard. Everyone at Volcom is thrilled to see Zoltan's efforts and consider him to be leading the pack in the race for the $10,000 prize.

Rule #3 of the Kickflip-Off states: "The kickflip must be a real air 'above the lip' - No backwash, No chop hops, or anything in the flats or below the lip of the wave."

With that said, Zoltan's kickflip is clearly below the lip and not a real air. Zoltan has pulled the first kickflip on a surfboard, but the $10,000 still remains up for grabs. We called Zoltan with our decision and he replied, "I'm not here to argue against your decision, but I am here to revolutionize surfing."

We are stoked on Zoltan and his reaction to our call. He wants to dedicate his kickflip to the memory of his lost friend Carl Reimer, and he says the money is his and he will keep trying for the $10K. Making a kickflip on a surfboard IS possible, Zoltan proved it. We anticipate seeing the winning kickflip in the near future.

don't get me wrong i love volcom, there one of my favourite companies if not my favourite, or at least was... but that is complete bullsh*t that they didn't give Zoltan the $10k. Over a year and after thousands of attempts of landing a kickflip on surfboard, someone about time lands one, volcom now comes out with updated terms of winning!? THATS A LOAD OF SH*T! why? b/c it was it wasn't in pipe masters or on a 40ft. wave and 12ft in the air above the lip?

price.dan, lol seriously calm down man...those were the rules from the beginning . He knew what he had to throw.

That's pretty wild and rad how clean he stuck it and kept riding down the wave, however I never really understood that aspect of surfing.

To date, no one has ever documented a cleanly landed back flip on a wakeskate. NBIGGER is giving away $100 to the first person that can land a "proper" back flip while wakeskating! By proper we mean a "wake to wake" back flip where first you launch an air, then land on it and ride out cleanly. No backwash, no fingerflips, no grabs, no laybacks. Just a proper back flip. We're going to be strict on these following guidelines. The rules are all listed here, so get out there and put this trick in the history books. Good luck!

Rules:
1. Your entry must be on video from the start of the trick through the ride out. No photos allowed.
2. This contest is open to everyone. The contest begins today November 21st, 2007, and will run until there's a winner.
3. The back flip must be a real air "above the wake" - No backwash, No chop hops, or anything in the flats or below the lip of the wake.
4. No grabs of any kind. Not before, not after, not during.
5. You must completely "ride out" of the back flip. That means if you lose the rope or slide out- it's not a make!
6. No front flips. Or else we'd have called it the front flip-Off.
7. No foam. Who wakeskates on foam anyway? Regular "made for wakeskating" grip tape is acceptable.
8. You must be riding a real wake skate. No boogie boards, softboards, wakeboards, surfboards, skimboards, kiteboards, trays etc.

he deserves that money, a kickflip on a surfboard is freaking crazy. Regardless of the fact that it wasn't aired out over the lip it still was the first kickflip on a surfboard. Zoltan the terrible should be 10,000K richer
