Today, a friend came to our lake with his Centurion Enzo.
The boat is way to fat for wakeskating (and way too expensive).
Not sure if you can call it a "ass-boat" though, cause I had a blast driving it. It's so powerful and stable.
As usual, the water was too choppy for wakeskating, so we took the opportunity to test the new ShredStixx wakesurfs protos.
Just wanted to share.
Anyone riding behind a Centurion?
(since my iPhone camera sucks, I did a quick vintage job)

im guessing that's a q7 audi. v6 towing is 5,500lbs and tdi/v8 is 6,600lbs. the boat alone is 4,600lbs and the trailer is probably another 1000+ so if it's v6 you aren't towing well at all

ya lets say is the q7 v-6. with just the boat and trailer with no gas in either vehicle, no gear, and no driver or passengers it's over the limit. if it's the tdi or v-8 it's probably only got a few hundred pounds to spare so with fuel and a couple people in the car it's done. needs a 2500 HD or something of the like to tow a 24' and then some boat. it is a nice looking boat though. great for tall people too b/c over 6' can still walk under tower. but the price tag is insanely inflated.

Why?

A V10 TDI would haul that thing around all day long like it's not even behind it. Contrary to popular belief you don't need a lifted F350 just to tow a wakeboard boat... That Q7 with the V8 is fine for pulling that boat, they have a tow rating of 6600lbs and there's no way the Enzo with trailer and fuel is pushing that.

Cool boat, I've never been behind one but would like to check out the surf wake sometime.

My buddy would tow his Tige behind his Yukon and literally got like 3/gallon...

exactly

mojo, the boat/trailer combo is huge (the first two boat-ramps we went to were too small...), and it weights more than 6'500 lbs, but the Audi does the job perfectly.
As for the price, all the big wakeboard boats are insanely expensive. Plus, they're nice for the sport but not convenient at all for other stuff.

as long as it's a good boat i don't care what anyone pays for it. all the prices for all inboards have increased by huge percentages over the last few years even with the same exact model year to year. however, dragon you are hugely mistaken. you should learn about the physics of towing. tow capacity of 6600lbs. boat 4600, trailer at a minimum 1000. that's 5600lbs. add the weight of fuel in the boat at 398lbs. that's about 6000lbs. then add any people in the car, let's say 4. you're running close to 6400lbs not counting gear and car fuel. my much stronger yukon towing a much smaller boat does the job right, with a tranny cooler and 3.73 gears. it still leaves something to be desired. towing at capacity is also harsh on stopping too. separately the car and boat are awesome. together not really. i get about 9mpg average towing my boat. that car will not last long.

lol i love how a boat thread turned into a "what a terrible tow vehicle that is" thread. sick boat. and for the record that is a pretty bad tow vehicle solely for the fact that its too nice. wouldnt want my gear tearing up that beautiful interior...

The Audi is sick but definitely not ideal for towing such a large boat

mojo, lllongneck, stompin9s, etc.
It's not my car and I'm not an expert at all with that kind of mechanical stuff.
As you can see in this other pic, the car doesn't sit that low and, seriously, it really tows the trailer super easy.
Is it bad for the engine?
I already told my friend that he's an idiot, so if you can elaborate about the real consequences, I could tell him what exactly is wrong with his towing technique.

And where the heck is Dragon when we need his Audi science?

i don't know exactly what the vehicle has in it, but alot of people end up getting a truck w/o the factory tow package which includes a hitch, better gears, and a transmission cooler. w/o those things the transmission usually get's really hot towing and there's not a stable gear/rpm range either. like i said, separately i think both of those toys are freaking great. it's just together than i don't think they should be used. i just can't imagine how horrible towing is with a vehicle that small and a boat that large when i tow with a 5.3L with a tow package on a 21' boat. towing in 3rd is a big help.
