wow. this sucks. zumiez and vans stores in the surrounding malls put my local shop out of business. well actually it was the local kids who put him out of business for going to those stores. they thought they would get better prices at the mall because they are bigger stores but in reality the skate shop had way better prices and amazing service.
thats what ive noticed at my shop as well. people just assume the bigger shops/online will have better prices without even giving you a chance.

What if you took a CCS mag and marked it up/cut it up and put it out on display somewhere so that people can see that you have better prices? Obviously there is a perception out there that the online guys have better prices, but we both know that isn't always true. So by proving to people that your prices are better maybe you can start to win people over?

One problem I have with local shops, they use another name and post the same shi t on ebay at a fraction of the retail price.

I know of several stores (electronis etc) that partake in this practice. I paid 750 for a surround receiver only to find out a month later the same store was selling it on ebay for 450 under another company name.

Our other issue, 10.25% sales tax in Cook County. I order online no tax no shipping. Local stores can't touch it. Sorry.
