Messing around with my new lens (new desktop for ya)

i managed to snap a picture that makes for a great desktop so i figured i would share

jcoffey, nice and shallow. what lens did you get?

here is one I got from the past weekend camping out on the Indian river.

bromfutter, its a nikon 50mm f/1.8. i had to get it since its only a $119 lens Smile

Nice, I love really shallow depth in most pics. My 50mm f1.4 is fun but I need a camera with a faster shutter speed to really take advantage of it. My Olympus om-1 only does 1/1000th so I can only open it up all the way in low light.

bromfutter, jcoffey, the closer you are to your subject, the shallower the focal plane, but the farther away you get, the bigger the focal plane, so if you guys are at like 1.4 and 1.8 and dont just want the tip of someone's nose in focus take a couple steps back.
