i just wanted to give an update and whats planned for the 08 season here at devotid wakeskates. the new devotid online store is now open and the new skates are in stock and shipping now. for the first 20 skatess we are giving away a free pair of our new skate bumps.

a little info about the three new bi levels:

the onwards are available in 38" and 40" sizes. both are 15.5 inches wide. They are all PBT bases drilled for our new fins and weigh from 12-13.5 lbs. new 3 stage 2.00" rocker. comes with a sheet of full size jessup grip and the new hardware kit. there is fiberglass in the top deck. this makes them flex better and last much longer.
we have added heat to our presses too. which make the epoxy and the wood glue "flow" into the wood better and creates a much better bond. we learned that heat not only sped the process up, but greatly increased the adhesives "flow" ability and tightened up the glue lines.

All new for 2008 is the Passion 41" bilevel. designed and influenced by team rider oury yarbrough. This is our first pro model wakeskate for devotid and we are very proud of it and Oury. It is 41 inches long. about 41.5" actually. this is the perfect size for bigger riders. the top deck was influenced by the good ol' skateboard Popsicle shape.

we've got a new fin coming out too...it's about 4.5 inches long and a little smaller than our standard fin. both fins have the same bolt pattern and are interchangeable.

The top deck kits are also available. take any flat deck and make it into a bilevel. comes with a top deck and all the hardware needed to make a complete bilevel. center the top deck 38", 40", 41" of your choice on your bottom deck and drill it out with readily available drill sizes. bolt it up and ride it.

New skate bumps for locking in nose and tail slides and different kind of grinds. these are molded plastic bumps with threaded inserts molded right in. they are about the same density and hardness of PVC pipe. they come with all needed hardware and a template for drilling too.

we offer custom graphics on any of the skates we sell. We print all of our graphics in house we use glossy white PBT base and heat press the graphics that you design deep in to the plastic to never get scratched off. Just like a tattoo. anything you can think of we can put on a skate. any amount of colors or size is no problem. the cost for this over a regular skate is $40 for the setup and extra labor. this is assuming we don't have to do much to your artwork. lead time is about two weeks plus shipping. email kevin through the site for ordering details.

weve got some new clothes that will be available in the online store in about a week. all new designs and materials. we are also working on a wakeskate shoe for the 09 season. look for it at the mid to end of the year at expo time along with devotids first video were shooting this summer. A michigan late season contest is in the mix already with some nice sponsors. also more info on the site about this.

So even with all of the new stuff we have out for 08. We 're very excited by the brand new skate that weve been working on lately. Its a new kind of concave skate. it is made like NO other wakeskate on the market. The design and the materials. we cant tell completely what it consists of yet, but here is a couple of its new innovative features were using.

- bilevel style deep concave and kick tails without machining at all, thus eliminating a weak point on the top of wood concave laminated skates. it a composite/wood combo.

- lower center of gravity. your feet sit literally 50% lower in the board to increase leverage and flip tricks or "flickability" for lack of a real word.

- fully reshape-able rails with no worry of damaging the board or exposing a core, nothing to delaminate from smashing it against rails and boxes. round em off square em up, then round em off again. big a$$ dent? sand it out. thats it. no epoxy needed to fix dings and dents. gloss PBT style graphics too.

- mild molded-in channel on a 3 stage rocker with fins that mount and unmount with NO screws or tools at all.

- ability to replace just the "perishable" parts to save money and make your buck go farther.

The reason that were telling all this is because we want to inform people that were not just reshaping and selling the skates we've always had, but as a company we are looking to the future and the new technology that will come with it. that and we want to push ourselves, technology and innovation wise as far as we can go as a company. being small and independent makes us agile on designs and gives us the ability to try things without major investments. so far the skate looks VERY good. its stronger, cheaper, faster and easier to manufacture, more adjustable, and recycleable. which was a thing we are trying to focus on in the future too. were trying to switch to a non karsenic (sp?) adhesive like mike olsen at libtech uses on there wood snowboard cores so we can recycle the scrap wood for burning fuel (its 6degrees F here today) and stuff like that. devotids trying to be more green for 08......hippies.

i know this thread will be called useless without pics right now but those will come soon. take it for what you will. If you think were just blowing smoke up your a$$.... no problem. we just want to inform people of what we are up too and what we are palnning for 08. so stay tuned for the details on the new site for progress on the new Movement V2.0 conave-ish thing. we think you'll like it.

thanks again for the nice comments and emails. and i will update sooner than last time, now that the website is done and im trying to get back to a real sleeping schedule for a change.

devotid, yo kev,
i have an 07 Union I bought last year. Can you make me a 3-stage bottom deck that I can bolt my existing top on? How much? You know that would be sweet. I really love the board, but I just thing that 3-stage makes more sense with a bi-level... Birthday

Would it be possible to custom order a passion in a 40 inch? or could you put a 40 passion top deck on a 40 onward bottom deck? I really like the fact that your offering custom graphics. This gets devotid on my "a" list of companies.

just wondering if the onward is an a-symetric board or if its the same width on both sides
also, do you think a 38" is to small for some one who is 6' and 165 pounds? or should i go for the 40"
