I've been trying to find a good brake setup for my winch, i've tried searching but no one has a good answer. I've got an extra hub adapter laying around so i thought I'd put it to some use. Anyone kno of a good brake setup that they'd recommend?

Yeah, if you have a tav there is not much over run when you cut the gas off, i don't have one on my winch or think i need one. If you have a CC you may need a brake.

Something like this is all you need if you want a brake.

putting a break on my winch was one of the best things i ever did. It has saved a lot of nubbie winch drivers from big problems. Ill post pics on my when i get home next week.

paulmc, I'm kinda look for a brake system that involves a disk setup, something similar to pulldozer's brake.

EJazzle, thanks bro.

miller, I'm not a fan of Princess Auto. I find they only have the most basic things, with terrible quality. I'm looking for something that's a little more advanced, stylish and something that's going to last.

paulmc, haha. thanks that's one that im considering.

http://www.gokartsupply.com/discbr.htm Does anyone have this kinda brake system? any good?

If you want a brake setup just order a mechanical caliper, rotor, pads and a caliper mount. Then get yourself a brake lever and cable from a mountian bike. And build from there.

I've never used a brake either (I have a brake kit just not installed) but it would probably come in handy in an emergency situation but who thinks that far ahead anyway Wink

I'm definitely adding a brake to my next winch. All these tight situations.

Front brakes from a pit bike works good, you can usually find them on ebay for cheap. As far as the disc goes you can get a cheap go cart style one that will work fine.
