PS: This country thrives on balance. Neither party is better then the other, they are only different. We've had a republican in office for 8 years, time for a democrat. I'd be saying the same thing if we had a dem in office for the last 8 years and they had run amuck. Time to let someone else solve some of the problems and create some others.

brassmonkey, I think things just need to be different. No one is going to change Washington, which is something both McCain and Obama are preaching. Our system is what it is. In my opinion the only way to change Washington and shake up our political system is to do away with lobbyists. As long as money speaks louder then the people we won't have a real democracy.
I think in the end that as long as we balance out one or the other and no one has complete control (like Republican controlled White House and Congress *cough*) then things can run smoothly and nothing will get too f*cked up.
One thing that does scare me a little is McCain saying he wants to overturn Roe v. Wade. I don't want to have to start wearing condoms again. Shocked

edrex, I hate to use a machine as a cliché metaphorical standpoint but it's so fitting. The machine that is at work and has been at work is running so smoothly with so much power and force that it has successfully convinced people to start giving up their rights one at a time. The more we are stripped down the more we feel "safe." I think the driving force behind the machine is a very knowledgeable, very ancient evil force. Not the poster child that gets up on Jay Leno and makes an ass out of himself or herself and wins votes. The puppets have very little control and are just a handsome, promise-making hero’s to the herds. The bummer is that the people are so mesmerized by the gears, bells and whistles that people haven't taken the time to sit back and think about the engineering behind it and how it’s really working. We've been through this before of course, that’s why we are on the land we are on. The only problem is this time we don't have an undiscovered continent to sail to, mass murder everyone, give them a turkey, casino and apology and live the American dream. With that being said, Scott a for president!

But seriously, don't take anything I just wrote up there to heart because I was just babbling and get so irritated with politicains that I like to stay out of it.
