today i checked the exchange rate from canadian to american and the american dollar is now only worth 3 cents more than canadian. Very Happy

basically $1.00 USD = $1.03 CDN

what are your thoughts on this? american and canadian?

personally think it is great because things in america are going to be less expensive for me if i am buying online or something. but thats just my opinion. i assume some people will not like this.

Chrishau, saying stuff like dominating their rate is a bit harsh, you should jsut be happy thhat it has came this far, i dont expect anymore than this.

Yeah im just joking around VinceWhiteman, Its cool to see this hapening . Long time ago it was like 1.00 U.S= 1.62 Can. So its amazing that its dropped so much.

Have any of you seen The Cooler with William H. Macy? Well….I am basically a “Cooler” for exchange rates. Every time I move to a new country, whether that be Germany, Japan, Canada, or America, the exchange rate for the country I am occupying and getting paid in begins to do bad.

It is F’awking Retarded and it pisses me the F-AWK OFF!!!! When I lived in Canada, I was like….sweet! I’m going to making those Benjamins’ suckahs!!!! Now, I just want the Elizabeths!!!!

Seriously though…as an economics major in University, I can talk about monetary policy and macroeconomics until the cows come home or the budgets balances. I would, however, like to highlight 3 things below are, I think, are attributing to some of Canada’s success:

1) Price of Oil. As the price of Oil rises, it begins to cover the expenses required to extract the oil from the Alberta Tar Sands. “Alberta sits atop the biggest petroleum deposit outside the Arabian peninsula - as many as 300 billion recoverable barrels” http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/12.07/oil.html
2) Universal Health Care. Toyota recently opened a plant in Woodstock, Ontario, creating a bunch of new jobs and helping the local economy. Why did they do that? All of their employees have Universal Health Care, and thus, the company does not need to shell over $$$ for health insurance coverage.
3) Government Funded SR&ED Grants. The Canadian Government pays out grants to small business that develop new products. I worked for a software company that was kept a float by Government grants to later be sold for a significant amount of money.

Lesson??? Americans need to stop making fun of their neighbors to the North and start learning from them. Not only are Canadians better looking, we’re smarter, stronger, and create better music.

yeah boy aussie dollar is at like 90c! it used to be like AUD .50 = USD 1.00
thats so good for us, but our prices are not going down, especially for wake gear. like an armada over here is $600 or something rediculous
