So here's the deal. For the fourth year in a row, Gravity Research Compound becomes host to an elite collegiate based, all- rail event and competition. The series has grown and evolved throughout the years. The event, schedule to happen April 13th-15th has been named Shreducation – A Lesson In Rail Riding. Event organizer Brandon Lee states, “This event will revolutionize collegiate wakeboarding and will open up the industry’s eyes to a new type of event and competition.” Shreducation is hosted by Kennesaw State University and 16 schools have been invited to compete. The invitation criteria was based on the top 10 teams from the 2006 Collegiate Nationals, followed by the top 3 remaining teams from the 2006 Collegiate rail Slam. Finally, three wild-card schools will round out the invitees.
The event and competition schedule:
Thursday:
6:00 pm-11:00pm Check In/Late Registration
Friday:
10:00am - 6:00pm Practice ($20 per rider = 20 min. practice session)
10:00am - 1:00pm Check In/ Late Registration
8:00pm - 12:00am Crunk Energy Drink Party w/DJ Loxx
Saturday:
7:30am - 9:00am Late Check In ($10.00 penalty per rider)
9:30am - 10:00am Riders Meeting
10:00am - 4:00pm Quarter Finals (8 heats of 8 riders…top 3 riders from each heat advance into Semi Finals…3 minute timed runs)
4:00pm - 4:45pm Intermission (Keith Lyman Demo)
5:00pm - 8:00pm Semi Finals (3 heats of 8 riders…top 3 riders from each heat advance into Finals…5 minute timed runs)
8:00pm - 9:00pm Intermission
9:00pm - 12:00am Passafire lights up the night with their roots, rock and reggae sounds. (http://www.passafiretheband.com)
Sunday:
9:00am - 10:00am Final (1 heat of 9 riders…winner take all…7 minute time runs)
10:00am - 10:30am Scoring
10:30am - 11:15am Individual & Team Awards Ceremony
11:30am - 12:45pm Ambush/Buywake.com Best Trick Contest (1 heat of 9 riders plus guest pro rider Keith Lyman…3 minute timed runs)
1:00pm - 1:30pm Best Trick Awards/ Closing Ceremony
Highlights and other announcements:
Sunday will consist of a 9 man showdown with the best collegiate riders in the nation going head to head for individual prizes and the $1,500 team purse. As an added bonus Keith Lyman (Oakley, Liquid Force, Xcel, Ven Helmets and Ambush/Buywake.com) team rider will step up to the plate and go head to head with the 9 finalists in a Best Trick Contest. The winner of the Best Trick Contest will be walking away with a Delta round-trip flight to anywhere in the United States.
During the course of the weekend spectators will have the opportunity to win prizes from Oakley, Liquid Force, Reef, Straight Line, Jet Pilot, Launch Pad, Bern Helmets and Buywake.com. In addition we will have display trailers from Optima with Lister’s Outdoors selling Oakley for all those that forgot their shades.
Entry is free to spectators, and camping areas are available and encouraged.
