www.neverride.com - The Hive....$10,000 but I've recently heard it pulls better than a boat.
Pirate Winch....kento911's beauty.

we had a website, but it was tottally destroyed so we are rebuilding it, and I plan on having it back up as soon as possible with new pictures and a better layout, I am currently in the process of filming a little teaser vid to go up on the page as well so people can see the winch being operated and ridden behind _________________ why dont you try playing hide and go Fvck yourself |

the best winch is the one you build your self. We built a killer winch for 700$. It was our first, so we can do cheaper. We are also working on new frame design. we got all the help off www.winchskating.com you can check it out at http://www.myspace.com/98733050

fsflip13, Thats a pretty bold statement, as far as the best winch in the world is concerned...
The NeverRide Hive and the Pirate Winch are by far the two best pulling winches out there hands down. _________________ arson-wake.com |

man check out the monkey winch. Those guys did some serious stuff. How much does the hive weigh? It looks hard to carry into some rough terrain. _________________ N-Pain |

check out the i-winch video. they arent even going fast enough to pop tricks. not to puit them down though, i've just heard alot of hype from people about that winch.
i've done alot of tweaking to my grinch as far as gearing. i really don't understand how one winch could be smoother than the other.
my grinch pulls deepwater effortlessly, isn't herky jerky, and has variable speeds depending on where you move the throttle stick. not to mention it fits nicely into the back of my hatchback.
no complaints whatsoever about the GRINCH. wouldn't change a thing.
adam always returns calls, and is one of the nicest, straight up guys out there. |

mario c., The best way I can explain the Pirate and the NeverRide difference is the gearbox and clutch setup. The biggest benefit of the two is that they produce the exact same pull every time.
The NeverRide is really a completely hydraulic driven unit... all the engine does is provide power to the hydraulic pump and then a driver is actuated by a lever in engage and disengage the driver unit. It really is almost smoother than a boat. Although I think they could gear it to have a touch bit more top end speed for really large gaps. Other than that a receiver option so you can tow it from your hitch receiver would be nice, along with a better throttle setup.
The original version of the Pirate Winch was really nice if you knew how to ride a motorcycle and had some time to spend to get used to driving the winch. The new version is everything you could ask for and then some. Super simple to run, exact consistent pulls every time. You could have a 6yo child drive this winch and produce the same pull every time. Running the new Pirate Winch is retarded simple, select your desired rpm for the speed you want and engage the clutch. One of the biggest benefits of this winch is that it has plenty of excess power and speed. I have considered using one to do 30+ mph tow ins on my snowboard.
I've had the opportunity to ride most of the winch designs out there... including my own, witch is essentially a combination of a Grinch and a Rewind on steroids wit much better gearing and controls, as well as a engine that runs 10x smoother. I did however see the new Grinch at expo was using a Subaru motor. These engines are the shizzle if you cant afford a real honda engine.
The Grinch, Pulldozer and all the other winches out there are great when setup right... But the Pirate and the NeverRide take the cake. They are what I would call the "contest winches" They both offer the most consistent pulls out there.
nate, The Hive is somewhat heavy, but not too bad in rough terrain if you have a few people. I know, I've carried it up and down steep hills with rocks! _________________ arson-wake.com |

| just so you know iwinch is still eazily the best in the world and as for popping tricks check the new alliance wakeskate ezine for the write up of the stones river gap in tennessee... its called variable speed control up the rpms and you up the speed... yeah we were the first to go through everything involved building the winch from scrap check it on winchskating.com and check its new hot pink paint job, oh and no other winches come close to its consistency |
