Buying a winch

I'm looking into buying a winch but the distortion and blackbox winches on buywake.com cost $2000. I do not have that much money! Are there any alternatives to these winches?

Yeah there are other winches, but they are all going to be in the mid 1000's to upper 1000's. You could always make your own winch. Wink

how would i build my own winch? how much does that usually cost?where do i buy other winches?
