Well it was pretty kicka$$ Cool
I rode, ate, and rode cable a lil bit.

All in all i had an awesome time. I met Slapdown, Ben from the Oak team(cant remember which) and Mike from Oak. Hes an awesome guy, I sat there and talked to him for like 20 minutes, a down to earth guy that knows what hes talkin about.

If any of you gus read this, thanks wake culture for the free t's and all the other sponsors. I wouldve stayed for the after party( free keg party for the riders Cool but i had to drive home Confused

what was thrown in pro was the same stuff as advanced, except way more technical... like varial flips and such..

Josh Steele won pro... he had a sick run

There were a lot of people there to compete. The score was based on 5 elements: Style/originality, Pop, Consistency, difficulty of the run and use of rails.

Begginers rode for 3 min each, mostly people doing ollies and surface spins, one shove it was allowed as a kind of 'wild card' since if you were consistent on shoveits you should be in intermediate.

Intermediate rode for 4 min each, Iamjessie drove this division, did a great job too as I head the ski didn't hold a speed very well. Ollieing barrels and hitting the rails was allowed if you wore a helmet. I think almost everybody did some kind of shove it and most people at least ollied a barrel or tried to. This was probably the biggest division. I rode in this division and got second place, I didn't hit any obstacles because I did't want to have to wear a helmet.

Advanced was only like 5 riders, same rules as intermediate but there was no limit on the tricks.

There were 13 people riding pro. They got 5 min runs. It was some amazing riding, kick flips, a few varial flips, eveyone was going huge in this divsion. Josh Steele did a really technical run including a lot of switch stuff and hitting the obstacles, I think he only fell once. Bret also had an amazing run, going big and landing some tech stuff, really got the crowd cheering with a shoveit on to a rail. He went down hard on a rail that was almost waist high, and got back up and kept riding. How's your leg dude?

The best part was Clint Tompkins landing a I/O kickflip perfectly...but landing right infront of a barrel and flying over it. His skate hit the barrel and made this lound hollow clunk!

I'm sure Under 360 will do a proper write up soon. Also Swami tooks some really good photos that should be online before too long. Jerry Lafferty worked hard to get this whole thing together and it was a big sucess. I've never had so much fun at a wake contest.

88skisupreme, dide he hit the barrel that i hit? because i did the exact same damn thing i didn't see the barrel after an i/o ollie and just ate it. Sad Laughing

Was it Ben from Oak that rode really well? I think it was him that did the biggest cleanest 360 shove and kickflip I've ever seen.

I was a judge and I was still suprised he didn't make top 3. But judging board sports is kinda wierd anway. Also there were 4 judges so who knows what each of them is thinking or what they think is good.

It was cool that the level of riding has progressed so much that almost everyone had a kickflip in their run. It wasn't like you could just land a kickflip and expect to win. If I remember correctly Josh didn't even have a kickflip, that's how good is riding was, didn't even need it.

technical spins and shoveits on and off the wake and in the flats and doing them switch. Also working the rails on both ends of the lake and getting tech on rails and over the barrels and I think he only fell once. He also went huge on I/O tricks.

Kickflips are cool and I got nothing against them but they are not the be all end all of wakeskating.

Also I have seen the 07 Oaks and they look great. Its a little wider and the edges and the concave are nicely rounded off. If anyone's looking for a wood concave this is the board you need to ask for at your local shop.

Yeah it was a fun comp, good riding and a good venue. Jerry did a great job, very inpressive.

integrity640, yeah it was me that you talked to, nice to meet you, i'm sure i'll be out there again sometime we should ride together, or if you ever decide to come to florida.

Slapdown, there's two "bens" that ride for Oak: Ben Horan and myself.

88skisupreme, yeah that was ben Horan that hit the really nice 3 shuv, back big and k-flip, he's a sick rider. the placing was odd because I placed higher that ben horan but personally felt like he had a way better run. oh well, thats how contests are, but it was a fun time nonetheless

sk8thewake69, Brac you are gay. Yeah I said it. Gay.
