1. Briggs and stratton (6.5 horse i think) probably around 300 USD
2. Torq-a-verter brand CVT cover and transmission... around 180 USD
3. driven sprocket (i dunno how many teeth that sprocket is but you can use anywhere from 60 to 72 tooth sprocket with a 7 to 8 inch spool... about 30 USD
4. looks to be about 10ft of chain... #35 pitch chain is preferred but #41 will work as well approx 15 USD
5. Belt for the CVT comes with #2
6. looks to be a hitch pin for transporting winch using the hitch of a car
7. pillow block bearings, holds shaft onto the frame... approx 30 USD
8. Gocart axle... 30 in long, cut to fit your frame... approx 30 USD
9. ibolt can be used for rope guidance 2 USD
10. Fairlead rollers for rope guidance onto the spool 10 USD
you still need metal for the frame and spool... and hardware to put it all together

Not sure... I figured I'd try it tho. If someone else knows a good rope for around 100$ lemme know.

Hows she run? To be honest I havn't started it up yet since I don't have something to mount it too and I'm still trying to decide on the frame.

NotSoBueno, haha i cant believe i forgot rope... i guess im just tired...
JB_CANSKATE, yea i just did my best in describing things.. i wasnt sure what you were doin with the ibolts and rollers... good idea
also if you have northern tool near you its a great place to get all your winching supplies...
and for the spool just to let people know this is what i mean when i say inner and outer diameter when refering to the spool...
and of course blue prints of my frame which ... just to get an idea and a place to start

Here is two sketchy sketches on frame designs that i'm considering. I have some rough dimentions for them but nothing is forsure.
I also plan to have wheels that can be removed on the front end a rope splash guard and eventually once it is done maybe a break.

So I decided to make a winch and am in the process of tracking everything down. Looks like I will be going with a 8 or 9 hp Honda, Tav 2, disc brake and some sort of hand throttle. The question I have at this time is sprocket size. What do you guys suggest as a starting point keeping in mind I will have hopefully a 9hp with the TAV-2. Thanks for your time. Also, where are you guys tracking down the spools? And lastly, what rope is doing the duty and surviving? Really appreciate the help. Haven't been this excited since I started skating 7 years ago

yabu, no the cvt (consecutively variable transmission) is actually more effective than the centrifugal clutch...

TheLeprechaun, does the cvt come with the engine or you have to buy it seperately?

it was actually more than the engine itself... we bought it after wards and spent nearly 200 $$$ on it... the engine itself only costed 60 bucks
