colored grip tape

i just got my skate in from ebay, the butterwood concave that is supposed to suck nuts...but anywho, i want to pull the foam off and put a grip tape surface on, i found some camo grip tape that is flippin sweet but a dude at a local skateboard shop said that colored grip tape doesnt last as long as the regular black...does anyone have any knowledge of this?

Well, i have no knowledge on the subject but i think he is cracked up.

But there is a possibility he is right. I don't know how griptape is made but i am guessing they glue the rocky crud to the sheet... maby the color messes up with the glue.

It doesnt...The grip is not as thick and doesnt stick as well.

Trust me I used to work at a skate shop and those little kids that bought that shizzle were in the next week wanting to change it up for Flameboy/Wet Willy because their camo came off.

yea colored grip doesnt last as long but no grip really lasts too long in water. it wont make much of a difference.

alot of colored grip uses cheaper water based glue too, I had several kids come back in to Quadrent when I was working there because they had slippery colored plastic instead of grip after skating in the rain, colored grip is cheap, b/c legitimate manufacturers seem to avoid it I think

ya ive heard that the colored grip isnt as grippy, just go wiht jessup its the best.

hey sorry but it doesnt. i gripped my skate with black magic and it lasted 10 times longer

I think alot of how long grip lasts is due to how good you put it on. Ive used all 3 kinds and the colored lasted about a week. Use jessup or black magic.

Dont use colored griptape. What the shop told you was dead on. The actual grains of sand or what ever they use for grip will just rub off as you use it. And once that happens, when you want to pull the grip off of your board, it will rip into little pieces and piss you off. The glue is pretty good but I dont know how it will last in the water. Your best bet would be to just use the traditional black grip. And if you want some designs, just use a little spray paint with a stencil. Just dont over load on the paint.

Jesup takes off way more skin than black magic, so Jesup is better

Color grip tape sucks, It does not last long and it does not have as much grip on it.

What abotu the coloured grip tape grubb has on his? The red bull design? Is that just sprayed on? If so, what spray paint can you use?

colored grip is deff not as good. ull go through it in like a week. just take a paint marker or spray can and paint it wut ever u want. more orignal and no one will ever have it.
