yeah, boardumb has the first KF. Fire it up has another early one that was flicked perfectly, and was performed on a cutdown wakeboard (both early flips were on a customized wakeboard).

I'd say both... in different aspects. Byerly made it available, Thomas is responsible for most of the board designs out there and they both still continue to push the sport.

i feel that byerly is just responsible for the cross-overs, he is a perfect example of a late switcher from boarding to sk8ing

Jacob, what do you mean when you say byerly's the perfect example of a late switcher? He's actually been wakeskating as long as anyone...you remember his 360 shoveit from a wbm from june 1995 (it was in the 10th anniv. issue).

I think both riders have made their contributions and both have introduced people to the art, but I personally credit thomas and a few others for really pushing wakeskating towards a skate oriented direction (if you pay attention, it's a direction that's still being pursued to this day, not only with board design, but also in "rider involvement" and mindset). If you can, pop in fire it up and you'll totally see the difference. Byerly was still riding his long ass decks barefoot (as were a number of his buddies) while thomas and drew were exploring different avenues with shoes and grip tape. And of course, thomas landed that kickflip in that vid too.

But just for good measure, byerly could rip on one of those long decks. I defy anyone on here to do a pop shoveit on a 137 cm wakeboard! haaaa...

So someone should land it and post it here first. Steal some of the spotlight. Haha. I'm going to try them w2w next weekend. Twisted Evil I'll probably shave my legs bare in the process.
