So I've been messing around with deep water starts because the only way I know how to get up is with the board above the water in the squatted like position. Does the puller pull the rider out at the same speed for a deep water start as a regular on water start? Does it make a difference. I just feel like the when I do a deep water start the rope just completely gets ripped out of my hands. It's like to much force to get out of the hole? Any tips?

im kinda confused as to what a regular start is, to me a regular start is a deep water, are you talking about like a dock start?

try starting with the board under water tilted up just a little. so it should be like your sitting in the water. it makes it a lot easier for you and the puller because theres not as much force as when you have the full face of the board going against the water

I think he means when your body up to like your arms is submerged and than you get pulled out like a lot of wakeboarders do. I think?

stand on top of the board (with it underwater completely)
bend your knees as if you were sitting in an underwater invisible chair
keep your toes angled up and your heels down
let your driver pull you at idle for a few seconds untill you get the feeling
keep a little weight back, but not so much that you lay back flat
as they slowly pick up from idle to speed keep the handle at your hips
you should be able to plain over the water in that position (its the same body stance you end up in right after you stand up from a layback start) you just keep you body in that position underwater and use your board to track to the surface

you can do this at any speed
start slow at idle to understand the mechanics
your basically using your board like a fishing lure (but in the opposite direction obviously)

this works winching , jet ski, boat, johnboat
and will save you time and physical energy once you get it down
esp if you are being pulled by a small engine
the less force you need to track your board to the surface the less strain it takes on you and the motor



why your getting ripped
try this (i use it to teach ppl how to stand up )
sit on the ground
pretend your laying back like you do when you start
have a friend help stand you up (grab your hands and pull you forward) {like a football player dose helping a fallen teammate}
if you try you can keep them from lifting you up (by pressing with your legs lika a squat at the gym)
but if you release you can roll your weight over your heels and they can pull you up easily
same concept works for wake
if you are laying back , pressing hard with your heels and pulling against the rope you will never stand up

but you need to find the balance point of letting the rope pull you over and ontop of your heels and maintaining that heel pressure to keep you on the water
handle placement means alot here too
pull to high to your head and youll pop the handle or if you manage to get up with the handle high youll slip out backwards

keep the handle at your hips and pull to your lead hip when you start rolling along
