How dirty is too dirty to winch?

we have some spots that have signs posted that clearly state that the water is not suitable for human contact

and on another river we have , they are dumping depleted thorium (used for indeglow on watches and will soon replace uranium in nuclear reactors)

so are these things to avoid? or are you too gnarly to care?

how dirty is the dirtyest water you've winched?

should we as winchers keep ph pool testing kits with us and test our waters to see if they are hazardous?

have you ever seen a sign that stated

Warning Water Not Suitable for human contach , no swimming , waiding or fishing?

and copious amounts of foam

im pretty sure it was a sewage runoff

and thorium is a cancer causing element

i dont have kids and one day hope to
but im not risking shooting blanks to get some gap riding in

no but just because some treehugging hippy from the parks dept put a sign up dosent mean i wont hit their gap anyways

just asking if anyone else has seen simmilar signs and what their actual puropse for saying not suiatble for contact entails

is it due to high currents , dirty water, or just some endangered little minnows

and you could loose you life in more ways wakeskating than choaking on some nasty water

IT probably has little to do with the ph balance of the water and more to do with Reclaimed water.... Alot of ponds are run off from sewer's and gutters. Used condoms, needles, ect... have made contact with that water. NOt to mention if its stagnet the amoeba epidimic of 2006 is still in alot of peoples minds.

also Amoeba epidimic is the name of my new band.

PIRATE, right on man!

the water is from a heavy populated area so if anything i think your right , nasty greywater runoff and street filth

just did some research and found that our thorium waters shouldnt be a health hazard

but is there any kits we can get to find out about waters without warning signs?
do we need amoeba kits?
petri dishes and microscopes

lets get all bill nye on these waters

POPTART, Dude, just shred those waters. You'll probably grow a few extra legs and will be inventing new tricks LEFT AND RIGHT.

I've been thinking the same thing about some spots close to me. Giardia is not fun. I try to breath out as soon as I hit the water. I don't want to ingest any parasites.

talk to anyone who has surfed after it rained and got sick......... No fun. To many clean waterways to shred out there. Stop trying to be ninja turtles and find some crystal clear water to get into.
