wakeskating in the ocean/bay

My twin bro and I are getting ready to take our Jetski down to Miami and we are bringing our wakeskate. Im just curious about riding in the bay or just in the ocean has anyone done this? Am i going to get attacked by a shark haha. I am going to be in Surfside Miami. It's going to be a blast.

Is it an ocean wakeskate? Most boards are built for fresh water and will rust in saltwater, which makes a similar scent to blood which may attract sharks depending on the area. Check the manufacturer's website and see if your board is compatible with ocean riding before you go out there. If it's not, you could reseal it with saran wrap, but it's messy and i'd recommend just buying a board built for sea water.

maxzach, No one has ever wakeskated in the ocean. Let us know if it works. Saltwater is some tricky stuff...

I wouldn't be so much worried about sharks, I'd be more worried about saltwater crocodiles. I heard they're bad out there this time of year.

Ive wakeskated in the keys a few times and with a ski we were able to find flat water everyday even with the strong spring winds. idk bout miami but it seemed to hurt more when you bail def had a blast tho Birthday

I have an obrien intox and an obrien fuse. I wonder if the intox is ok to ride on the ocean since i just bought it. I have an old fuse tho that i dont have so much of a care about so.

My suggestion would be to strap a harpoon to your back and if one of those f@*ker$ messes with you after a nasty face plant, send a harpoon into its skull.

Or, you could just not fall the entire time...........
