Hey yall

First off, thanks for all the continued help on that Greenwala contest...i hope to know by tomorrow If I won!

I got inspired by a similar photo in the Saab dealership when I was waiting for my Mom's car to get serviced. I wanted to recreate it so I snapped a picture of it on my iPhone.

I finally got around to doing my version so check this shizzle out and let me know what yall think

dP, Do you have a link to the photo that you were trying to replicate?

Any particular reason why you have the exposure compensation cranked up so high?

thats the photo but without the add copy on it.`

Pardon the low res on the final edit. It was too big of a file and WS.com needs to jack up their accepted file sizes!

I forgot to answer your question though. It's not exposure compensation. I did a lot of dodging and burning as well as some levels adjustments using masking. This was to help things stand out more and create some of the lighting effects from the original. Had I had my tripod and more time without rain, I was going to a composite HDR with multiple different lighting set-ups but I was rather presed for time. i plan on doing it the propper way soon.

You should blend in your headlight triangles a little more like the original and add more light. Set up that tripod and start shooting, I'm in for the HDR.

dP, exposure comp is in your camera. it was set at +4.7. God knows why Laughing
It looks pretty good other than your dodge/burn job behind the car, it looks like you just need to spend a little more time on it.

EDIT: just saw the final one, I would do a little less harsh dodging on the headlights. and i would try to make the beam look like it was coming out of the actual headlights. I think you should burn a little more toward the rear of the car. I would reshoot this in a street, using either 100% ambient or 100% flash. but not a mix

I had no Idea it was set that high. I guess you saw that in flickr stats. I appreciate the pointers. I definitely plan on re-shooting it properly whenever I have the time. I'd ultimately like to do it on an actual runway which I could probably pull off. I'm not happy with the lights at all But that's because when I started the edit, I had my history off on PS and by the time I realized the headlights were blown out too far past what I wanted them to be, there was no way to go back without starting completely over. Being that it was shot during the day, not at night, makes the lack of more lighting acceptable in my opinion. there is no way I could have shot this in one exposure with two lights at night. As for exposure comp, its being neutralized right now lol
