I think this "need a video" thing is getting blown way out of proportion. Generally, if you are claiming you have landed something out of the ordinary that not many people are doing then it would benefit you to have video footage of it. Otherwise, some may not consider it legit and that is understandable. Anyone can come on here and just start making claims without backing it up or having proof. If you are claiming that you have landed something for the first time ever in the history of wakeskating, then video proof is mandatory. Also, the reputation that you have created for yourself on here will play a major part in your credibility.

This next part of this equation is really the part that is starting to bother me. Ever since the "need a video" topic arose, that is now the first thing said to someone that is stoked about landing a new trick. If someone comes on here and says that they landed their first shuvit or wake to wake jump and these days, even a kickflip, be happy for them! It is not out of the ordinary for riders to land basic tricks on a daily basis. Show your fellow riders some love and support. That is why I created this site.

And lastly, if you don't believe a claim that someone is making about a trick that they may or may not have landed, then the best thing you can do is just not say anything at all. It does none of us any good for you to point out that you do not believe them. Even though you may not believe them, just keep it to yourself. If they are making false claims, then their day will come. If they aren't, then it will totally suck for them to be stoked on a new trick and then get let down by everyone here when they try to share their excitement with all of us.

I personally think that all of you guys are smart enough to tell the difference between false and legit claims. Especially when it is someone on here that has been around for a while.

I am open to your comments if you disagree, but remember that my main point was to get back to being stoked for your fellow riders. If you don't agree with that, then in my opinion, you are in it for the wrong reasons.

I agree Dave.
Most people don't have a lot of credibility, so a video is wanted at least. Also, I know that if someone lands a kickflip, I want to see it. It's just fun to watch, to see how other people are doing it.

Yes, everyone should be stoked for someone landing a challenging trick, but I think if someone has doubts, they still should ask but in a nicer way.
Maybe something like this, "Well that is awesome man. Congrads. I've been working on my k-flips, would you happen to have some video so I can check it out and maybe learn?" Or even more simple, "Awesome, can I see a vid?"
If they don't have anycredibility, then there will be doubts, and probably shown in posts (which I think is fine as long as they aren't to an extreme). Saying "Wow, nice progression, but I somewhat question it. Can I have some vid to for proof?"...I think that is suitable, but "BS! No way, you need a vid!" is totally wrong.

People posting that they did something challenging should know that people will want proof, or at least that people are going to have doubt....esp if they haven't established credibility.

Just my 2 cents. Yes people are being rude, but we are humans.
Just a little addition: That guy that posted about landing a kickflip on his 10th day of riding....c'mon now. What are you really supposed to say to that?

i think the most recent problem with needing a video was che landing the w2w kickflip and so many people, i beleive including e snow, didnt believe him. anyways i believe he did video or not.

seven11dmd, I agree, and I would like to go on record as saying the only people I ever naysayed where the two guys who claimed they landed heelflips then just stopped posting, but generally I congratulate people on their accomplishments, and much like colorless I really want the vid to watch for enjoyment, I do think the saddest part of the whole che w2w k-flip fiasco is that Nick has NEVER claimed anything he didn't have vid for, let alone couldn't do, and I thought that someone of authority calling out his credibility was not cool, so on the whole I say Dave's new policy is the way to go, share the stoke, it's better to call bulljive in private than to spray off on the forums only to have vid drop and you look like a tool.

colorless I think I said all that needed to be said to the 10th day k-flip guy, if anybody is interested in how to respond to people like that check it out.

BTW Dave "I am open to your comments if you disagree, but remember that my main point was to get back to being stoked for your fellow riders. If you don't agree with that, then in my opinion, you are in it for the wrong reasons."... I agree completely, support from your fellow riders is the best part of this sport.

yeah i believe that who cares if someone landed basic tricks but a kickflip would be nice to see footage but still who cares.

on the thread were che said he landed a w2w kick i told him"seriously on here you cant expect people to just say good job...u def. need proof. i know some1 on here that has landed something that no one else has and still has only told a select few! until he gets the video he wont be typing shi t. i personaly think che did/can do it but who knows with out video. che just get a video so peeps will shut their mouths" and its true. anyone can just post that they landed a heelflip and even if they have credability people still want documented proof. i believe people should be nicer about it...except for parky...

dave its wierd when all of us reply to a thread like this i believe we are all serious and stuff like when a teacher is in the classroom and on other ones like the parky threads its like when the teacher leaves the room and some kid yells party! anyone else notice that?

Exactly, at the end of the day does somebody landing(or saying they landed) a trick going to change your world? Video is nice just for the sake of video, like Dave said, you are in it for the wrong reason if you need to call somebody a liar because YOU don't believe it and god forbid they didn't catch it on their camcorder. And if they are a liar, that is their problem.
