Continuous pull.
You probably ride no more than 30 secs per pull. Take 2-3 mins before you go again. Thats 4.5 to 6 hours of riding. |

I'm guessing Its gonna be very heavy, when a hand held electric winch comes out then IL switch from petrol. _________________ The views and opinions expressed here are mine and im well aware that your views and oppinions may not be the same as mine but thats the diffrence between you and me.

It probably won't be that heavy. It's not even difficult to build...
If you use Lithium Polymer batteries they weight very little and you can charge them pretty quick too.

| 45min of continuous pull, does that mean 45 mins of riding? like one pass with 600ft of rope is only a few minues, so i think u could get at least 20 or so runs at about 2 minutes a pass |

sparrow.2, batteries plus a electric motor has got to be heavier than a Honda 6.5 even with a full tank. _________________ The views and opinions expressed here are mine and im well aware that your views and oppinions may not be the same as mine but thats the diffrence between you and me.

The winch with the two motors on it is about 25kg and the Lithium Polymer Battery for it would weigh about 5-8kg...
If you can build a Honda-based winch which makes zero noise and weighs around 30kg I'll swap you my beemer for it |

Check out the batteries they use for RC planes and helicopters. You will have to do the math yourself though on how many you need ... |

This probably won't matter since the winch is out of water but...
I thought lithium + water = fire? I guess electricity and water can play nice (cable parks) but i feel like if a battery goes bad, you'd have a crispy winch and a pretty bummed operator. You always hear those stories of laptops/ipods exploding and they have lithium based batteries as well I think. |

| It will take some serious ingenuity and engineering for that pull. if it's true? |

On older Lithium Technology that was an issue. Current Lithium Polymer tech is pretty safe and stable. The lithium doesn't actually ever come into contact with water due to it being completely sealed to avaid exposure. |

after a few months of R&D i've got a working electric winch. the battery packs way about 65lbs and the winch is 12"w x 12"h x 24" long and weighs about 45 pounds. You get maybe 15 or 20 500' runs max per charge, depending on how many deep water starts you do - top speed is about 25. thumb throttle with really nice smooth acceleration, not like a clutch or a TAV at all. i should have a finished product by spring, but it's way way heavier than what these guys propose. I've set it up so you can drag around as many battery packs as you want to buy for longer days. but batteries are HEAVY!!! of course i could go with lithium ion or lithium polymer battery packs that weighed less, but cost about $3000 for the pack and the charger - may as well buy a PWC. i'm shipping it to florida to try out in the next few weeks, i'll post a video.

I know what happens to my cellphone battery when that beach gets wet!!! I would imagine it would be a smooth pull though. I just don't like the idea of a charge. Not too many electrical outlets out in BFE! _________________ [all previous posts under MTwakeRaiderz]

The teaser starts out with knee boarding. not much more to say. Those batteries are F*in heavy. Looks like you could put a sub on it though. haha. I liked the 180 turn at the end. I never thought a turn would work that easily. _________________ [all previous posts under MTwakeRaiderz]
