So this is a problem that has bugged me for years, I have never been lucky or wealthy enough to own waterfront property, I have had to rely on waterways with public access. It seems somtimes though that said people on these waterways are not happy with our presence or like we are below them. The other day me and some friends were riding early and were keeping the same path so that we would keep the water smooth, then superdad who just built his brand new dock the day before gets in his brand new wakesetter that doesn't even have fl numbers and loops around the lake at 10 mph. We were like w/e but then he pulls his rider next to us and we weren't moving since we were already there first. When my buddy falls the guy speeds over and starts cussing us out dropping f bombs in front of his kids and asks us if we live on the lake like we are scum for being there when all we did was keep riding in the same spot. I just don't understand why people have to be so nasty about it. I also don't understand how they can sell someone a $60,000 boat without giving lessons for driving and etiquette

fvck people who own nice wakeboard boats and dont even wake board or wakeskate all day long, they mostly tube or knee board.

if i had a wakeboard boat id eat that shizzle up.

gatorskater, Is it a private lake? If so they do have the right to kick you off(not that I agree) because of laws and what not. That does not give him the right to come up to you and start cussing at you when all that is needed is"Will you please leave, this is a private lake and you need to either live on the lake, in the town or pay or somethin!"

Stupid people with there $$ and doucheish lifes!

On the lake that my G-parents live on, it is a private lake and you must have a sticker ($15) and proof of SID card(you live in the village) and then its all good. People, like my grandparents, get all angry because there on our lake(Tax money goes toward it) and i just sit and laugh because its not a big deal and there just having a good time! Very Happy

Its great if people want go out and ride or tube or just enjoy boating on our public lake. But what grinds my gears is that the people who own lake frontage (my family) can't enjoy the lake they pay to be on. My lake is smaller and you can tell when an unfamiliar boat is out on the lake. Usually some weekend warrior tubers who don't have the common sense not to tube in the calm water. It kind of reverts back to the way old school surfers act, "locals only", and in my mind set, people these days don't have any courtesy toward the people that have to pay be on the lake, thus they don't deserve the privilege to use it.

To me its kind of like riding a dirtbike or a fourwheeler on a state park's trail. "Tread Lightly". If you don't abuse your privilege, you'll be able to come back and enjoy your hobby for years to come.

Take it for what its worth.

its a big problem in florida on lakes. my buddy lived on a private lake and we would always ride the shore line the wind was coming from so we could get the flattest water and we would always make a turn and ride the same path and follow our line. other lake dwellers just ride in circles or pull tubers and have no idea what a "line" is. people feel like skaters and boarders alike are not generous, mostly law abiding citizens. i guarantee that i know the river where i live better than 99% of people who live or launch their boat there and i see some stupid and dangerous stuff go down all the time. just b/c you're a kid don't feel afraid to tell the mother fizzle off and explain to him he's a phone call away from getting a ticket for a non registered boat. or offer to explain the physics of how driving lines and doing it in parallel makes everyones life easier.

nickl011, Exactly! Same set-up here. Small lake and you can tell when there not supposed to be there!

Whats really funney are the people that go out on the lake that shouldnt be, tow tubes and have no line, and are always lookin out for someone to "catch them in the act" I just say let them stay and feel all worried! haah. Then when they come back again and are all calm, you go but them! hahah! Twisted Evil

I'm not on a private lake. I don't tell people that don't have a place on our lake to get out. It just annoys me a little when people who haven't payed for a cabin on the lake act as if they own the water and have no regard for any of the "locals".

If you don't live on the lake, or own property on the lake, don't act like an assholle towards the "locals".

The best thing ever is to be totally calm and polite when someone is screaming at you like a total d-bag. They get even more mad and everyone can see what a tool they are.

There are so many wakeboard boats on the lake we ride on and they all just pull tubes. Cracks me up. And if they do pull a rider they can't even jump the wakes. All that money spent for nothing.

well, nobody. and i mean NOBODY rides in my creek. which is a blessing. knock on wood. this weeked though we had a nice fancy toy come in(wakesetter) throwing his gnarly wake. just cruising around. he atleast had the courtesy to come alongside me. shut his boat off. and ask where and if there was room enough to tow some wakeboarders. I was startled and told him take up wherever you want to ride. just try not to do too many loopties to tear up the butter. they actually knew what it was!! Smash

oh yeah. i rode behind a ski nautique 2001 and got completely obliterated by its tsunami of a wake..... eek

funny this thread just popped up. when i was out 2 days ago this guy was circling in the skiers loop in the river in his pontoon boat doing like 10 milles an hour because he had his 5 year old kids in the tube. he could've gone anywhere in the river but he chose the place where everyone wakeskates or wakeboards. and then on top of it he was following right behind us and i fell and he almost hits me so i throw up my arms and he just waves and keeps going.

i hate people who think they own the whole lake like that. on the 4th, a lot of once a year lake go-ers get on the lake and act like total idiots. well we were riding in our cove being considerate to everyone else, just like we always do, when this idiot towing tubes comes in. we kept going about our business but this dude is swerving right in front of us and cutting us off, while stirring up his huge wakes. then once my brother falls he has the nerve to come over to us and yell at us for coming too close to his boat, when, on our lake, you get pulled over for cutting into someones line and not yeilding to the smaller, lighter, and slower craft. seriously, if he wasnt towing his kids around the three of us would probably have kicked his a$$ cause you just dont do what he was doing. but on the bright side i learned to front flip off the top of our friends dock Smile

Just to clarify I was on a lake with public access, and I didn't yell at the guy he was irate, I was suprised he would speak like that in front of his kids. I just wished people knew how arrogant they sound when they think that being richer than someone makes them smater than someone when he was the one being an idiot. He wouldn't even allow me to speak politely and tell him what a line was!
