I went to Cozumel and Cancun last summer. I didn't have a bag so I made a make shift box a taped it up. When I got to the airlines I told them it was a special board for my back. I told them I had scoliosis(spelling?). no charge both ways.

nate, So what you just put it behind your back?? Or did you put it up in the storag compartment. This might work, especialy because i have scoliosis(Sp aswell) This might work!

I think it should be fine, I fly four or five times a year and take a huge guitar case with me and no ones said anything.

sandiegoskate, Yeah ive taken a guitar before! And i just put it in the overhead and it was fine, but IDK with the skate!

i dont think southwest does anything. its what i fly and usually no questions are asked.

well i just put in a wakeboard bag with my shoes vests and wet suit.
if they hassle you just say its beach stuff and have a towel on top.

So what would be a good thing, besides a board bag, to put my skate in? Would walmart have something big enough? What else?

buy a cardboard box. thats what i ship my skates in. I checked it in and they didnt charge me anything. that was air tran i think.

Lollar, yeah i usually have my sandals, towels,etc in my bag too.
ive done it once before idk why the lady just read my bag but it worked

guitars can be carried on and not counted as one of your carry ons because almost every airline i've flown allows you to carry one musical instrument on board free of charge.
