I'm all about Obama, but damn the man is like a freaking camera magnet. Guess I'm not used to it after Bush. Obama loves being on film almost more than President Reagan. Obama should start up an acting career after his presidency ends, sheesh.

This was pretty cool of him though, little girl missed a day of school to go see the Pres and he wrote a note to the teacher to excuse her absence:
video: http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/politics/2009/06/11/sot.obama.school.note.cnn

just the article: http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/31271867/?gt1=43001

He's got great handwriting too, even for a lefty!

The note given to the child was of more importance to the media than the actual answer to the question... After he stuttered around a bit, he finally put together a half way coherent sentence comprised of the answer "it will be a few years" instead of any actual intelligence put forth to answer the good question about our health care system. Obama's probably so stoked he got to that distraction so he didn't have to try to make something up for the public to feed off of. We get it hes a nice guy, but hes doing nothing for the country so for besides starting socialism one state at a time (Cali). The stocks are down worse now then they ever were with Bush.... WOOOO he got rid of Guantanamo Bay!! WOOO Let a bunch of terrorists out! WOO. Its been 6 months and there is no significant difference in our society.... great job. Rolling Eyes

-LoGiK-, Of course not, but i thought he would dive into some more important situations then letting loose of terrorists. I've yet to see any of this "change" he promised everyone, at least in any good way, all the "change" so far has made everything worse.... I know its not going to happen over night... but how long will it take? the rest of his term? Or until we elect some one better... most likely.

-=AlexXx=-, Try something other than Fox news and you'll find that he has actually accomplished quite a bit in his first 100+ days Rolling Eyes

I'm not an Obama fan by any means (too much celebrity, not enough executive), but you can't say that he hasn't done anything but "letting 'terrorists' loose"...

-=AlexXx=-, that what you and your parents talked about over dinner?

he's said over and over that what he is trying to do is like moving a giant oil tanker, even if it goes a few degrees in the right direction you won't feel the effects until down the line....

you've given him 100 days, bush got 8 years

*edit*

also you should be excited that for the first time in almost a decade we have a president who inspires not only the american public but majority of the world as well

Man, you'd be crying like a little beach if they detained you without charges. Ever heard of due process? Right to a speedy trial?

Even though you may not, I certainly do believe in the constitution.

DRAGON88, Sorry, anyone involved with anything remotely close to 9/11's happenings and terrorism should stay behind bars or get a death penalty for the lives they took. All the prisoners let go get prizes and welcome home parties as they returned to their homelands, because they got away with the crime on American soil they committed. And you all think its great that Obama is making great friendships with foreign countries... lol Id be friends with the person who let my buddies go too. Dont get me wrong Im glad his foreign policy is sky rocketing, but i think it be a bit wiser if his domestic changes happened before his foreign policy should have been implemented, dont you agree? Also dont you find it odd that he was promising we get our troops out of the middle east within months of his election, and after his election his words changed to 3 years? hmmm.... Sketchy. All im saying is hes not doing anything but attracting media and foreign attention. I see people around the mall and town and such wearing Obama shirts all the time, and i just dont understand it. I have never seen anyone wear clinton shirts or any other presidency shirts in such multitudes. He is in it for the Media, he is the first black president. Thats great and all, but lets see what he can do for our country, im waiting for something....

Alex... you are very good at being one sided. If he immediately brought home the troops what would the repercussions be from that? If he left them there longer what are the problems going to be from that?

We've pretty much gotten ourselves into several problems where one right answer seems to bring up more questions or seem to cause more problems. Hell Obama could be doing something totally wrong, but at least he's doing something. It's better than continuing in the obviously fail direction with W.

I'm no supporter of Obama btw

-=AlexXx=-, You nailed it. Almost everything i think, you put into words. But its all a toss up nobody on the planet can predict whos tellin the truth and whos not, no matter how much news you watch or hear. Its a matter of patience and chance, who knows what good/bad will come.

Then again i thought bush was a good president, so you know.. just disregard anything i say. Rolling Eyes Very Happy

if you're being sarcastic.... my response is "douche"

if you're being serious.... my response is "you should draw information from several respectable sources, before forming an opinion, even more so if you your going to be expressing it online..."

Let's start here. Some people detained were not at all related to the attacks on 9/11. If there is proof that they have committed treason, good. Give them their trial and sentence them. If not, then it's illegal to detain them anyways, how would you feel if you were detained to Gitmo never given a charge? Again, you'd be screaming bloody murder. While you may believe that everyone in Gitmo is some sort of terrorist mastermind, I'd prefer for the legal process to be followed. If we don't follow the conventions that we've set forward, then we're no better than the terrorists.

Mmm... Sensationalism and fear mongering. Yes, I've heard about a lot of these parties, they have pinatas! I'm not saying let everyone who's been detained go, I've never said that. What I am saying, is F-ing charge them with something and sentence them. I am a firm believer in constitutional rights, and am somewhat skeptical of giving the government the power to detain people whenever they see fit.

Unilateralism has worked out well for the US during Bush's presidency, just look at how much Afganistan and Iraq has cost us. I don't think you're very well versed in the subject of politics, especially international relations.

First off, no, I don't agree that foreign policy should only follow after domestic changes. That's completely absurd, why is it one or the other? What powers do you think the POTUS even has? Domestic changes might not even happen until he's way out of offices. I think you should probably do a bit more research on what exactly the president is in charge of.

Secondly, this is a global community, a global economy with global problems. Turning isolationist at this point is NOT going to help us period. We need to be on good terms with other nations if we expect to get out of this recession alive.

Thirdly, you speak of improving international relations as if it is detrimental to domestic policy changes. When in fact, both can and must go on at the same time and even complement each other. Do you think that things currently have not improved because the president hasn't spent enough time dealing with domestic issues? Again, I think you should really read the constitution and get a feel for what the president's responsibilities are. Improving international relations has NOT come at the expense of slower domestic change at home.

Hi, welcome to politics 101. Politicians LIE, Shocked anyone with half a brain knew that promises to immediately pull out of the middle east were probably not going to happen. Furthermore, as POTUS he has access to way more info then he had as a senator campaigning.

First, people are idiots. Why is this news to anyone? Secondly he's been in office for less than half a year, anyone who is upset about things being more or less the same lacks a basic grasp of American politics.

I'm not some huge Obama supporter, I just think that some of the things he's dong are pointing us back in the right direction, closing Gitmo is one of those things IMO. I am also upset about a lot of the things that Obama is leaving in place, specifically things that violate basic civil rights.

But again, we'll need to wait and see how it all shakes out. Don't be expecting things to be drastically different even a year from now. People need to realize what kind of things the president actually has influence over, and need to realize that Obama cannot single handedly "fix" the world.

I'm not gonna say I don't like Obama, because he is a very smart guy, and very well qualified for his job. I just don't agree with some of his views.. But either way, the note to school thing was pretty cool. Cool

The Daily Mail (UK) wrote this editorial about Obama on 1/6/2009.

Obama's Victory--A British view

A victory for the hysterical Oprah Winfrey, the mad racist preacher Jeremiah Wright, the US mainstream media who abandoned any sense of objectivity long ago, Europeans who despise America largely because they depend on her, comics who claim to be dangerous and fearless but would not dare attack genuinely powerful special interest groups. A victory for Obama-worshippers everywhere. A victory for the cult of the cult. A man who has done little with his life but has written about his achievements as if he had found the cure for cancer in between winning a marathon and building a nuclear reactor with his teeth. Victory for style over substance, hyperbole over history, rabble-raising over reality.

A victory for Hollywood , the most dysfunctional community in the world. Victory for Streisand, Spielberg, Soros, Moore, and Sarandon. Victory for those who prefer welfare to will and interference to independence. For those who settle for group think and herd mentality rather than those who fight for individual initiative and the right to be out of step with meager political fashion.

Victory for a man who is no friend of freedom. He and his people have already stated that media has to be controlled so as to be balanced, without realizing the extraordinary irony within that statement. Like most liberal zealots, the Obama worshippers constantly speak of Fox and Limbaugh, when the vast bulk of television stations and newspapers are drastically liberal and anti-conservative. Senior Democrat Chuck Schumer said that just as pornography should be censored, so should talk radio. In other words, one of the few free and open means of popular expression may well be cornered and beaten by bullies who even in triumph cannot tolerate any criticism and opposition.

A victory for those who believe the state is better qualified to raise children than the family, for those who prefer teachers' unions to teaching and for those who are naively convinced that if the West is sufficiently weak towards its enemies, war and terror will dissolve as quickly as the tears on the face of a leftist celebrity.

A victory for social democracy even after most of Europe has come to the painful conclusion that social democracy leads to mediocrity, failure, unemployment, inflation, higher taxes and economic stagnation. A victory for intrusive lawyers, banal sentimentalists, social extremists and urban snobs.

Congratulations America! Your funeral will be sooner than you think!

BTW I am NOT a McCain supporter

Ron Paul 2012
