so i'm going to build an incline in a couple weeks. I plan to make it 25 feet long and will have 4x4's pounded into the ground every 5 feet. I plan to put a 2x12 across the top of them then trex on top of that. I'm wondering though since the tops of the 4x4's will be at different heights will I have to saw off the top of them to be able to nail in the 2x12? If so what is the best method for doing this? FYI the angle is not very steep.... 4 feet increase in height over 25 feet give an incline angle of about 9 degrees. Thanks for the help. |

Here's one I built.. if you make longer sides like this one, you won't have to angle your 4x4's- you would secure it by screwing through the sides instead of through the top..

set your outside poles. first then pull a line between the two so you will know where to cut all the other ones off. use a cordless saw zaw with a wood blade.. |

T-Hawk,
thanks man, just yesterday I built a new box for a new winch spot.. it's 32" wide x 24 feet long, and I built, transported, and set the whole thing up all by myself without any help whatsoever
crystalbeachrider,
how's the incline coming along? any pics yet? _________________ ------------------------------------------------------

Brett Leadley, wow.. lol.
crystalbeachrider, Brett's idea for just screwing through the sides into the 4x4 instead of angling them makes the rail a lot easier to build, and adds strenght to it at the same time. Trust me, i've made this mistake before. |
